A more midrangey version of the aggro loam decks of past, with red trimmed for a much more consistent manabase.

Our game plan is to start generate value with Life from the Loam returning plenty of lands that we can repurpose for discarding in order to create bears, or retracing Raven's Crime . The addition of the one mana cycle lands gives us a pretty good chance because we can usually instantly buy back our loams.

Our deck also has many features similar to other rock midrange decks with heavy hitting creatures, card advantage, removal and disruption. Our deck does have more frogs than they do though.

Life from the Loam - The blood of the deck. Allows us to get back 3 lands for the low cost of two mana, and it is easy to get back into our hand.

Ayula's Influence - Beeeeaaaaarrrrsss! Turns all of our extra lands into bears. You can do lines such as Loam back three lands, discard two of them to make more bears, cycle a land and then get loam and the three lands right back.

Dark Confidant - In Bob we trust. Card advantage for the nice grindy games, and we have a lot of lands and a low curve so it doesn't hurt us too much.

Grim Flayer - Don't about this one, and I might end up replacing him with another value engine or more disruption such as Collective Brutality . However, he is usually a 4/4 body for two mana that help us fill our grave and fix our draw.

Tarmogoyf - In goyf we trust! Our wonderful chonky boi holds down the fort and leads our bear army to victory.

The Gitrog Monster - We all serve our master the Hypno-Toad. He might cost a bit much for modern, but his card advantage engine is quite nice. If every time you discard a card to Raven's Crime or Ayula's Influence you draw an extra card, it is pretty nice.

Assassin's Trophy - Catch all for most threats in modern and punishes decks that run few basics.

Fatal Push - The premium removal spell of choice.

Liliana of the Veil - Protects herself and ruins our opponent's hand. Goes quite well with Raven's Crime .

Raven's Crime - Ruins our opponent's hand, and being able to discard more lands in order to empty it entirely usually ends the game.

Thoughtseize - Classic hand distruption to ruin our opponent's day.

Updates Add

Cut one Twilight Mire for one more Swamp. We have enough ways of tutoring out lands that I think another is beneficial, and I don't know the current mix of the horizon lands that we should be running.
