You don't want to play Hissing Quagmire. It's stats are pitiful and the deathtouch doesn't gain you much. You're better off with Treetop Village in my opinion. If it serves a specific function that I'm overlooking, then I'm probably wrong, but I don't see any value to it.

Other than that, Phyrexian Obliterator is one of my favorite cards, so kudos to you for playing it.

Yea I was mainly looking at it as being able to produce so I wouldn't need urborgs. I like having a great deal of basic swamps hah.

Also: thanks! Obliterator is one of my all time favs too haha.

When I was a really new player, and new nothing about netdecking or decent deck building, I had just heard about Modern and was derping around on TCGPlayer for some sweet cards, and guess what I bought? Phyrexian Obliterator.

This deck is sweet, classic Obliterock. +1

+1 Cool take on rock. I have to agree with ToolmasterOfBrainerd on Hissing Quagmire. It's a pretty underwhelming card, but I get where you're coming from with quadruple black mana cost.

Don't drop Treetop Village Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth. Especially not for 2 basics and and 2 Golgari Keyrunes.

Anyway I wanted to ask, how has Damping Matrix worked for you?

Yea I'm 99% sure I won't bring them in.

Damping Matrix... I'm still unsure about it. It's mainly there for the affinity matchup. I boarded it in last night but didn't draw it, so it's still an unknown.

First of all this looks like a really good, fun deck. One thing I'd change is the amount of delve spells. You're playing 4 lilis which means your graveyard will be pretty stacked so you want have you worry about making you goyfs smaller. I would cut a Victim of Night and play a Murderous Cut. Victim is good, but you currently don't have a spell in you deck that will kill a mutavault and cut would help with that. Also one mana removal is great.

that is a completely salient point! thanks man!

No problem, I've always loved the card obliterator and I love seeing people make decks with the card. Good luck with your crazy quadruple black adventures!

I'll SB Bow of Nylea and give it a shot. I think it works better for your build because you're lighter on removal and heavier on creatures.

I do like the MB Damnation though.

How has Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet performed for you?

How's your token match up? How has Night of Souls' Betrayal performed overall? What else do you side it in for?

dude Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet is a beast. the hype train is real, haha: his tokens are insane. especially with Bow of Nylea on the field because they have death touch. puts the opponent in the situation of either taking a hit from the token, or blocking and losing another creature and then me just getting another token. plus it has lifelink. I started with 1 of him and went to 2.

Night of Souls' Betrayal is good. i keep thinking about going to 2. it really hoses affinity if you can get it on the board in time.

i just added Sword of Fire and Ice - hoping to pick one up tonight to try it out.

i saw you have one in the sideboard as well. what do you side it in against? i was thinking about Sword of Light and Shadow in the side for WB matchups.

Vs Control (Treetop Village+a sword can decimate), filler when I have dead cards to side out or when I side Bitterblossom in.

I've ran Sword of Light and Shadow before. It's okay, it's mostly just a source of life gain. I run fewer creatures so it rarely would get me something out of the grave.
