Geist is such a powerful general for 1 on 1 EDH.

There are a lot of high level creature spells in the deck, but they are for late game mostly.

The early game is all about geist being out and you playing counterspells and removal. Then when you've, hopefully, outlasted them to say turn 8-15 you can start dropping those other bombs that cost 6-10 CMC.
