A glorious general, Atraxa's efficiency is brutal and elegant.

I built around Atraxa, but tried to keep it simple, not going more than one step away from her. For example, I have several ways of getting +1/+1 counters on my creatures to proliferate, but largely avoided cards that depend on +1/+1 counters being around. I use some planeswalkers, with which she works well, but not cards that focus on planeswalkers.

I also like playing to her deathtouch; for example, giving her first strike or indestructible means she wins nearly all combats, which is especially nice for a vigilant creature.

The deck can be slow off the ground sometimes, but Atraxa is such a stabilizing presence that some board wipes and removal are usually enough for the deck to claw its way to a winning position.
