Esper Mill

Mostly typical, using Glimpse the Unthinkable, Mind Funeral, and Archive Trap.

Cards that make the opponent search their library are quite helpful. Path to Exile and Field of Ruin may just allow you to play the trap without paying any mana cost! (Actually, the Field WILL allow you to play it. It's not a "may search" they HAVE to look for a land.)

Edits: Extirpate to remove pesky creatures when they hit the graveyard, such as Emrakul, the Aeons Torn. Extirpate over Surgical Extraction, yes. Split Second is a life-saver against control decks.

Fraying Sanity is amazing. Just a single one of them out and you can absolutely mill an entire deck in a few turns. The biggest thing about Fraying Sanity is that even if you Wrath of God all your opponents creatures, it still triggers. Having multiples out just steps your mill up exponentially. 2 Fraying Sanity on the board, and throw an Archive Trap and you mill 52 cards that turn. This is the card that has the chance to turn Mill into a viable option, and a possibly Tier 1 deck in Modern. Either that, or it's totally gonna get banned.

Not a full group tonight. Hey Wanna Play is under new management/ownership, and trying to bring back former customers. They're doing a good job at it, and my play group is trying to make a big showing.

Played this deck tonight to 5-0.

First Match: Modern Jund. Bloodbraid Elf into Liliana of the Veil anyone?
It was nail biting, and my hardest match of the night. Took the first game quickly, then lost the second due to mana-fuckedness, then hit a clutch Glimpse to take game 3. 2-1.

Second Match: Honestly, shouldn't even count. New modern player (not new player, has been playing since mid-90s), was playing a standard-legal vampires deck. Suprisingly, I got mana screwed 2nd game again, and he overwhelmed me with biting things. 2-1

Third Match: Another newish Modern player. She was playing Grixis Control, but wasn't comfortable with it yet, multiple misplays, I almost felt bad about the double Fraying Sanity into Archive Trap. 2-0

Fourth Match: Boros Burn. This was a race. Showed him Hedron crabs in the first game, he sided in extra removal, while I sided out the crabs for the other games. (Wooo! Dead cards!) Took both games quickly. 2-0

Fifth Game: Jeskai Burn. Interesting deck. Couple landfall creatures as quick beaters, and some burn spells. His mistake was burning me and leaving the crabs online, even after I had a Fraying Sanity on him. 2-1

Very good night, all in all.
