Sideboard

Alright so here is my take on a Dimir (U/B) mill/exile deck along with a sideboard. First off I'd like to say during my test runs against mono-blue devotion, G/W populate tokens and a U/W control, I won roughly 90% of my games because it is fairly fast and consistent. With that being said, I am looking for some input to make it more controlling and slightly faster, +1's and constructive criticism is always welcome with an explanation of why you believe it to be a better swap.

Card Explanations Mainboard:

Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver: All around powerhouse. exiles cards from library and steals creatures. -10 only used against control decks.

Jace, Memory Adept: Top 10 mill, need I say more?

Liliana of the Dark Realms: Lets me tutor for swamps thinning my deck out, also the emblem is good to have if she lives that long to overload the crap out of Mind Grind.

Far / Away: Creature control early to mid game, bounce and sacrifice.

Breaking / Entering: 2 mana for mill 8 cards? Yes please. Better than Tome Scour.

Mind Grind: Has the possibility of being devastating to Aggro decks who don't run more than 20-22 lands.

Consuming Aberration: Possibility of being huge, also his second ability of mill until opponent hits a land after successful cast is always nice.

Lazav, Dimir Mastermind: Self explanatory, he becomes a large creature I put into an opponents graveyard, survives kill spells and Detention Sphere.

Nightveil Specter: Has potential to be nasty if he goes unchecked. Also, great for devotion.

Hero's Downfall: Kills powerhouses, Elspeth, Sun's Champion and Jace, Architect of Thought in control decks.

Traumatize: All around a good milling utility.

Wight of Precinct Six: also has the potential to be a large body unless playing against control. If, then blocker he shall become.

Card Explanations Sideboard:

Jace, Memory Adept: Milling top 10 every turn for more consistent milling ability.

Dissolve: In case I need a few counter spells for some devastating heavy hitters.

Traumatize: 3rd in sideboard for an extra utility for some more mill ability.

Crypt Incursion: If I fall low in life, this has potential to save by butt.

Lazav, Dimir Mastermind: Just cuz.

Mind Grind: Extra one against Aggro-ish decks.

Consuming Aberration: Large Creature potential.

Pithing Needle: For them pesky planeswalkers and the one man army know as AEtherling!

Ratchet Bomb: Against token/populate decks, also helps against Elspeth, Sun's Champion's token production.

I would like some advice if Reap Intellect or Thassa, God of the Sea's Scry mechanic could be of some use.

Alright, so I had a very interesting set of match-ups tonight at FNM.

Game 1: Played against mono-black devotion with red splash for Dreadbore and Slaughter Games. Match 1, Dropped Omenspeaker, and Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver in the first 3 turns. Exiled Desecration Demon and casted it through Ashiok turn 4. Played Traumatize turn 5 and he scooped because I denied him 3 Gray Merchant of Asphodel and 3 Whip of Erebos. Match 2: Opponent kept a 1 land hand, giving me the advantage as I started milling him. He was halfway milled before grabbing a 3rd mana. He casted Underworld Connections hoping that he'd have a chance to draw into land, countered with Dissolve to deny him the resources. Took the game 2-0 easy win.

Game 2: Matched up against Mono Green Aggro, splashed black hand control, i.e., Thoughtseize and Duress. Match 1 went fairly well, Milled all his green fatties and blew up Polukranos, World Eater along with Kalonian Hydra as they were casted. Opponent was furious and scooped. Match 2, he sided in his hand control and denied me Ashiok 1st turn. Thoughtseized me once again and took my Jace, Memory Adept. He played fast and denied me resources. Match 3, Did the same thing as match 2 with hand control ditching 2 Far / Away's along with a Hero's Downfall. Milled roughly 40 off his library, as he was hoping to Top-Deck something large, but he never found it. He had 2 cards in hand and I played Jace, Memory Adept using +1 to draw as all i had was a Dissolve in my hand, drawing into Hero's Downfall with his ability. My field consisted of an Omenspeaker when he dropped Mistcutter Hydra, before declared attackers, played Downfall and he scooped. Game 2, 2-1.

Game 3: Played against RDW, which is where I figured I'd have the most problems in any matchup, which was correct. He got the match fairly easily, was way to fast for me to get anything started. Game 3, 0-2.

Game 4: Matched up against mono blue devotion, Master of Wavesfoil along with Thassa, God of the Sea. Match 1 was a typical hand, Omenspeaker into Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver, Played Liliana of the Dark Realms for deck thinning and Jace, Memory Adept turn 5. All while exiling creatures and denying him any sort of board presence. Match 2 was a little more on the rough side for me. He sided in Pithing Needle and automatically targeted Jace, Memory Adept, that put a hinder in my routine, as I opened hand with 2 Jace's. He won match 2 after dropping a second Master of Wavesfoil and a Thassa, God of the Sea. Match 3, I denied him every possible creature/resource possible, Basically God-Handed for the first few turns. Played Breaking / Entering for a turn 2 opener and got rid of 2 Master of Wavesfoil, Thassa, God of the Sea and a Nightveil Specter. Turn 5 played Jace, Memory Adept, milled 10 and passed turn. Turn 6, milled 10 more, dropped Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver, exiling more. Turn 7, milled 10, and casted another Jace, Memory Adept for another 10 giving me the win by mill. Game 3, won 2-1.

Tied for second points-wise. We all decided to split instead of playing since people had to leave earlier than expected, but I pulled Hero's Downfall, Elspeth, Sun's Champion, Foil Nightveil Specter, Ash Zealot and a Hallowed Fountainfoil. Best split ever!
