This deck is highly entertaining. I love comboing the Rig with the Post, and dealing 4 damage to your own Boros Reckoner can be a beautiful thing.

Your Boros Reckoner is going to be damn hard to cast, though. Getting to WWW in a 3-color deck is going to be tough. You have a lot of W lands, but you also have a few that don't tap for W.

Yeah I know. I've been testing it and there's been a couple times when I haven't been able to cast the Reckoner, but overall it hasn't been a big issue. And I agree, it is highly entertaining. I've never been a fan of Standard, but I think this deck will keep me playing it this time. :)

+1 because of giving Volatile Rig lifelink then blowing it up. It's cruel and horrible, and I like it!

Thanks! I'm having trouble thinking of stuff to change to make it have even more synergy. It works well but feels a little clunky at the moment.

I'd run more of the Whip, Thassa, and Supreme Verdict. Your already in black, so pull Rapid Hybridization and replace it with a better kill spell, since if you use it on your Volatile Rig and your explosion happens you will lose the token anyway and you might as well not give your opponent creatures. I'd replace Angelic Accord, since it will only trigger occasionally, and drop a Detention Sphere for some more early game removal, like Doom Blade .

Also, you cannot use Trading Post to blow up Volatile Rig and return it to your hand. Targets are chosen before costs are paid to activate abilities, so the Volatile Rig you intend to sacrifice will not be in the graveyard when targets are chosen for the ability.

Doom Blade wouldn't be a very good choice for my meta, just about everyone in it runs black.

I did a huge overhaul of the deck and tested it out last night, it performed amazingly well. Check it out! :)

A good early game deterrence would be Baleful Strix , not only is it a two drop deathtouch but it also gives very early game card advantage.

Only if you planned to take the deck out of standard though...

No, going to keep it in Standard. I really like Baleful Strix though, I've got it in one of my Commander decks I think.

Angelic Accord +Trading Post =good times

I had Angelic Accord in here but it actually didn't work too well. The angels don't come in until the end step, it was just too slow. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Throw some random Totem Armor enchantment on to Volatile Rig

For an EDH deck i mean.

Totem armor doesn't protect against sacrificing the creature.

Took out a Sphinx's Revelation and put in a Gift of Immortality .

I want to see Boros Charm in this deck so badly, both to make your creatures survive Volatile Rig and for the infinite combo with Boros Reckoner ... but sadly it's off color. Maybe Rootborn Defenses could have a place though...

+1, I love it when people use "Junk" rares in standard! I'd love to offer advice but the deck seems fine to me.

infinitemana: Thanks for the suggestion. It would be too much of a stretch to splash red just for Boros Charm, but I definitely see the potential with the Rig and Reckoner.

I've been playing with Volatile Rig since Theros post-rotation, and I must say I LOVE your idea for this deck :D If I could +1 more than once, I would've done it!
