Yet another build of Molten Psyche, I can't get this card out of my head, I've been brewing so much with it, it's gotta be my favorite card at this point.

On a totally unrelated note, did you know that each mana produced by Pyromancer's Goggles produces a different copy? I didn't! The deck was birthed with that gimmick in mind to copy'Syche multiple times with Goggles, though it's moved away from specifically tapping and untapping it.

The deck has since moved far from that initial thought due to my incessant brain ramblings. The deck would probably be stronger if it stuck to that idea, instead suffering from "too many cooks in the kitchen" syndrome.

We've been leaning more toward white with Tameshi, Reality Architect and Sram's Expertise pulling weight.

Currently the deck is geared as a durdley combo deck, winning around turn 5-6, in magical Christmas land where the opponent doesn't interact.

The main plan is to utilize Lotus Bloom + Tameshi, Reality Architect as our mana accelerant and spin into casting multiple Molten Psyche for lethal.

Thinking of less "winmore" ways to get our opponents to draw cards to add up the damage but not a big fan of Temple Bell or Howling Mine right now, which were prime candidates. Pretty high on Shah of Naar Isle as an opponent draw during our turn, doubling as a big beater.

  • Ideas Unbound digs a whopping 4 cards deep and lets us get Goggles or Bloom into the graveyard.

  • Collector's Vault has been working wonders in the deck: it hits metalcraft, puts artifacts in the bin for reanimation, draws cards and makes treasure tokens! But even then, it's pretty slow. Makes me consider adding Zirda, the Dawnwaker (At this point it's been replaced by Sram's Expertise as that card automatically makes metalcraft as well as casts Psyche or one of our other spells for free.)

  • I've liked Mercurial Spelldancer since it was spoiled, but I really, really wish it had the artifact type and it not having that hurts it for me. It can stand out in other decks but feels slow/clunky in this one.

  • I've been jumping back and forth between Trash for Treasure to reanimate Goggles, but it feels off.

  • The sideboard needs work, I imagine at this point geared toward the hate pieces.

  • Can't believe I never recognized Molten Psyche + Sram's Expertise , literally a c-c-comboooo. - (10/24/23)

  • Kinda wanna add some Electrodominance + suspend shenanigans... specifically Restore Balance because we can bounce all our lands with Tameshi and we're pretty lite on creatures. Don't know what I'd cut for or it... maybe a Rowan? Or Cerebral? - (10/27/28)

  • Feels too memey - (11/5/23)

  • Want to add some Containment Construct + Wheel synergies. Specifically ones that draw 7+ cards. Feel as though that would help make the damage from Psyche be more consistent.

  • Jaya Ballard is like, perfect for the deck. All abilities are relevant. +1's either cast Molten or dig for it. And the ultimate lets us cast it again from the graveyards. Slept on. - (12/22/23)

I've neglected to give thanks for the kind words/suggestions/activity and upvotes for this pile o' jank of mine. I'm quite happy to have seen it gain as much traction as it did, and I thank the many people that have contributed! Thank you much!

I've made changes to the deck to try an reel in the game plan (just cast a bunch of Molten Psyche's) Not nearly as budget as it once might have been, hoping to reel it back once the gameplan gets finalized. This build is focused on going faster, with more tuning and planning to come.

Notable changes:

*[Mox Amber] and [Skrelv, Defector Mite] - While expensive, a path toward casting spells faster in a psuedo-Amber loop if we're able to hit multiples, Skrelv's a cheap legendary white creature for Amber that can also protect Tameshi or let us try and get a hit in.

  • Baral and Kari Zev give us a body/token and count themselves for Mox while also allowing us to cast [Wheel of Fate] for free of an other sorcery

  • Brass's Tunnel-Grinder   is: tutorable with Engineer, recurable with Temeshi, a legendary artifact (multiple copies allow us to cycle etb), a great source of draw.

  • Founding the Third Path is recurable with Tameshi and can allow us to cast our instants/sorceries from the graveyard.

  • Underworld Breach allows us to cast any spell as apposed to just one instant/sorcery

  • Baral and Zev felt more cute than effective
  • Going back and forth on a Shah+Skrelv+SoWaP package feels too cute and adding nonlegendaries takes away from Mox.
  • Really think Engineer deserves a spot with graveyard synergy with Tameshi (2/6/24)

  • Added Patron of the Moon as what seems to enable infinite mana with Lotus and Tameshi, decent body, neat synergy with Tameshi

  • Added 1x each of Grinding Station and Thassa's Oracle in a fit of psychosis noticing that we already run Ambers' and Breach, for the oh so popular Underworld Breach + Grinding Station + Mox Amber + Thassa's Oracle combo.

Finding it from an article titled "MTG Modern Izzet Underworld Breach Deck Guide" by Jesse Robkin (2/7/24)

X'd the Thoracle combo, way too gimmicky, would need to be more of a dedicated plan. Kept Breach since it's still recurable with Tameshi, and allows us to cast our spells.

Want to add Emry, Lurker of the Loch over Engineer for Amber but she doesn't let us cast Lotus from grave, or put it there herself... (2/17/24)

Help/discussion is appreciated/encouraged in developing lines and speeding the deck up! I play on Magic Online every now and then and take far too much of my poor opponents' time: "Infatuated_Amnesiac"

If you have thoughts about the deck, please share them!

I understand Molten Psyche isn't the most competitively viable card, but I'd certainly like to see it included as core in a winning list.
