AussieBloke thanks for the plus 1 and why not. show up at your FNM? 9/10 agrro decks don't hold up to this deck. As for Predator's Rapport its in the side board.

Actually your deck is pretty sweet +1 from me if you like my deck be sure to +1 it as well.

Ghor-Clan Rampager may be a nice addition to this deck because Nylea, God of the Hunt is sometimes not enough, just a thought. Also 4 Domri Rade is good with as many creatures you are running.

+1. This deck is similar to mine Green with a splash of Red. I can only imagine how pissed some people might be when they lose in turn 4-5.

It seems like a lot of red mana sources considering you're playing it only for 6 total cards. I'd look at using some Stomping Ground to keep access to the green, and take damage as you need to get out Xenagos or Domri. (can't see you taking shock for Savageborn Hydra or Clan Defiance .
Regarding clan defiance, why play that over Mizzium Mortars ? My trade decision between the two cards is that I use both as removal. If I have the mana for Clan Defiance as a win condition, then I should be winning already. However if I'm getting overwhelmed by espers/rats, the mortars will help me stabilize the board, or at least stall out a few more turns and top deck something.
Feedback on hasty hydras (comments pls) would be appreciated too!

bktong I choose Clan Defiance because it hits one non flyer, 1flyer a 1 opponet. 3 for 1. The reason I don't run morters is because I put more creatures out faster enough that I use them to wipe. If they don't block they die, then Clan Defiance .

OK, just one question: How do the planeswalker "put a creature on the battlefield" abilities work with hydras? How do you make the X not 0 when you bring them out like that? That is a thing I did notice, and is as far as I know one of the only real downsides to hydras, that you have to spend mana and cast them the regular way in order for them to be of any real size.
January 6, 2014 9:42 a.m.
dreamaddict the planeswalkers put the creatures in my hand not in play. The I use the ramp to cast them in high numbers. With the amount of mana possible they don't cost as much as you would think.
January 6, 2014 12:59 p.m.
If you put a creature card that costs X on the field with an ability like Primal Surge when the spell resolves the creature is a 0/0 and goes straight to the graveyard.
January 6, 2014 1:38 p.m.
I think he was talking about the Garruk, Caller of Beasts for putting a creature into play.
January 6, 2014 1:45 p.m.
Also creatures like Khalni Hydra can be extremely cheap to cast and give tons of green devotion for things like Karametra's Acolyte and nyx for even more mana to pump the X hydras
January 6, 2014 1:46 p.m.
He was flashter but I used primal surge as an example because no one would use Garruk, Caller of Beasts s -3 to cast an X hydra

I used to run a deck very similar to this and got two FNM wins with it but its hard to use anymore because now mono black is so big that this is the more likely scenario now a days
turn 1: Thoughtseize takes your Kalonian Hydra turn 2: Thoughtseize again takes the Nylea, God of the Hunt turn 3: by now you couldn't play the Kalonian Hydra so you play the Polukranos, World Eater on turn 2 which then gets Doom Blade d, Ultimate Price d, or Hero's Downfall ed turn 4: leaving you now wondering what to do you play a 6/6 Mistcutter Hydra and their response is a Desecration Demon or one of the various kill spells
and then you have no more plays and they just start Pack Rat populating
Trust me I used to love using this deck but anymore it gets wrecked by Mono-Black and control unless you have early game good draws....by the way I hate Mono-Black

whyguy2 I have no trouble against mono black. I haven't updated my sideboard but there are 4 Ranger's Guile and 3 Wildwood Rebirth . I've been playing this same deck for a while and know how to get around most decks. 8/10 I destroy black. But the green/ white populate deck with Druid's Deliverance and Rootborn Defenses tend to give me the big screw.

Renegade Krasis would help you put counters on stuff, same with Ivy Lane Denizen
January 8, 2014 5:46 p.m.
G/R Devotion-FNM Winner 2X This was the deck I used to run but I wanted to try something new so I'm working on a Simic deck right now and with this deck I never really had problems against green/white decks
January 8, 2014 5:55 p.m.
whyguy2 all decks play colors they do great against, and others that become Nemesis. Just the way the game works to keep they cycle following and us the player buying.
January 8, 2014 6:03 p.m.
JXB when I first started this deck I did play Renegade Krasis he would die to a Shock or Magma Jet before he could evolve. As for the ivy I've thought about it just never got around to it, due to how well the deck play as it was.

Don't ever show up at my FNM with this. +1 for the name, the deck, and the turn two kalonian hydra. Are agro matchups ever an issue? You might want some life gain in here. My suggestion is Predator's Rapport , the best lifegain for massive creatures, cause its power and toughness. A 16/16 kalonian hydra means 32 life, in one go. Still, love the deck mate.
