Maybeboard

Instant (1)

Momir Vig, Simic Visionary has been a deck I've been tinkering and playing around with for the last 3 years. It has gone through a few different variations and end goals but now after playtest for awhile I feel it's in a good spot for both my game plan and consistency.

Now Momir Vig, Simic Visionary may seem a bit much for a 2/2 costing but his abilities are what truely make him shine. Basically our plan is to have him in play and start fishing through our library for creatures to start building momentum and start building up an engine of ramp and grabbing creatures we may need to help control the board (e.g. Bane of Progress for mass artifact removal or Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir to keep our opponents from countering our stuff outside their turns.). Basically whenever we cast a creature we can stack our deck by putting any creature on top of our library guaranteeing we draw it next turn. If we cast a creature we look at the top of our library and if it is a creature we reveal it and add it to our hand. If it's both we essentially are tutoring for whatever creature we want! There is still a gap between when we put the creature on top of our library and then reveal it and add it to our hand which is a moment an opponent can take and make us mill the top card of our library but I am yet to suffer that fate. Cards than let us draw whenever we cast a creature allow us to skip playing a creature entirely when we put a creature on top of our library by stacking Momir Vig, Simic Visionary trigger and the draw trigger so we can add the creature on top then draw it from the top. Vizier of the Menagerie also just allows us to play the creature off the top of our library along with looking at the top anytime and spending Mana if though it were any kind of mana making things easier.

So what is our endgame going to be? There are a couple of paths we can take to achieve victory either by running over our opponents with Craterhoof Behemoth when we have created a critical mass of mana dorks and other creatures we've fished out. Alternatively we can also do a stupendous combo involving a mass of creatures then cast Tishana, Voice of Thunder to draw a bunch of cards, fish up Prime Speaker Zegana and cast her as well to sit with a large chunk of our library in hand full of more creatures to cast and a bunch of counterspells and removal when we need it. Through cloning via Progenitor Mimic or soulbounding Deadeye Navigator to either to our Simic Merfolk ladies Prime Speaker Zegana + Tishana, Voice of Thunder to draw out our deck. At this point with enough interruption we can drop Craterhoof Behemoth with ease and win by overrunning our opponents or draw out our deck with Thassa's Oracle giving us our victory via her ability so long as we have less cards in our library than our Devotion to .

One of our combos to speed things up and change our playsyle is a combination of Seedborn Muse + Yeva, Nature's Herald allowing us to untap during our opponents' turns and then flash in creatures with essentially our extra turns during our opponents'. This makes creating a mass of creatures easier and allows us to drop Craterhoof Behemoth once it's back to our turn again. It also leaves our mana open so we can interrupt our opponents with counterspells and removal when they try wiping the board or interrupting our plans. Having Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir in play can be a substitute for Yeva, Nature's Herald to still give our creatures flash and also make it so they can't play spells at instant speed outside their turns.

So that's the deck and how we get Viggy with it!
