Yay, another Trostani EDHer! Obviously you have a bigger budget than me but here's my Trostani deck for reference :) Be Fruitful & Increase in Number

Actually, I traded for most of the cards. I bought some of them (mostly lands), but I was able to trade or pull most of the rest. Land Tax , Mirari's Wake , and Swords to Plowshares were all in the same trade with a friend of mine and I gave him, like, $5 of cards. He does not believe he did this and denies it whenever I bring it up.

Wow, 28 lands is REALLY low for an EDH deck. You'll probably want at least around 35 just so you see them often enough.

@ Venator101

Wow, I hadn't even realized I'd gotten them down that low. Problem is in finding things to take out. Do you think you can give some suggestions?

Here's what I'd cut and why;

Cloudshift - No amazing ETB effects to make it worthwhile. Why no Sun Titan either, by the way?
Harrow - More efficient land ramp if you need it. Ramp doesn't need to be sorcery speed. Consider Skyshroud Claim , Cultivate or Kodama's Reach .
Midnight Haunting - Spectral Procession .
Naturalize - Consider Acidic Slime , Aura Shards or Krosan Grip instead.

Semblance Anvil - Gives your opponent a free two-4-one in card advantage terms with an artifact destruction spell.

Wake the Reflections - Does nothing on its own.
Call of the Conclave - Good for aggro decks, not so much for EDH.

Seance - Bad card is bad.

Also, I've had a lot of success with Martial Coup in my own Jor Kadeen deck. A board wipe that also gives you a board presence with it is good value. Hope this helps :).

Looked through the deck today and had some cards coming out that were on some of the lists. Specifically, Cloudshift , Wake the Reflections , and Seance . I actually like Seance , because if you populate the Spirit token, that one doesn't go away. But the I put it in almost specifically for Serra Avatar and completely missed the fact that Serra Avatar doesn't stay in the grave.

I'm going to try and keep in Harrow because it has always been one of my favorite cards and I'm missing anything that's really better. If I had Cultivate , it would be in here real quick.

Conjurer's Closet is staying if for nothing else than the fact that it's free life and possible token / counter production.

The Tower is necessary for the massive draw. Really need that in here.

Glaring Spotlight is also necessary due to the large amount of Hexproof I've had to deal with. The unblockable blitz it can provide is also good.

Semblance Anvil ... Hm, that's one I have to think about. I like the card, but I DO generally end up having it hanging back in my hand for much too long.

Midnight Haunting is in over Spectral Procession for the pure reason of instant speed blockers. Although they may end up in here together.

Naturalize will be getting replaced with a copy of Aura Shards . As soon as the trade I'm in the middle of to get one clears up.

Call of the Conclave is my little buddy that has saved my ass more times than I can count. And the turn two token Is needed against stuff like turn two Grand Arbiter Augustin IV .

All in all, thank you both for the suggestions, they've been taken into consideration.

Oh, and my only Sun Titan is sitting in my Kemba, Kha Regent EDH to make killing off my equipments a little harder. And recur Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse when there's nothing else to grab.

Alright, changes were made. There will be some more changes later in the week, but this is the deck as it stands. Any new thoughts?

Have you thought about Seek the Horizon instead of Harrow ? I'm just not liking the idea of needing to sacrifice a land to get two lands tapped. Or you could use a Farseek since you can search out a Temple Garden

November 19, 2013 6:41 p.m.

Uh, they don't enter tapped. If they entered tapped, it would be so far gone that I can't even think up a proper analogy. So, I can pay 3, sac a tapped land, and get two untapped. Which is great with Knight of the Reliquary or Lotus Cobra or anything that may need fixing.

Spike Feeder works well with the deck's theme... and infinite combo's with Archangel of Thune . A lot of the cards in this deck already make near infinite combo like effects when paired with Ghave, so you will probably need a combo to punch through..

@ Demarge

Sorry about not commenting back when I first saw this, I was half asleep and ended up forgetting about it. I really want to get a Spike Feeder for this deck. If I were to get one, what do you think I should take out?

Demarge says... #15

Well Mentor of the Meek is great along with ghave, but quite often you'll have some form of an anthem effect or simply making more tokens with ghave is still better than even drawing more cards.

December 3, 2013 6:28 a.m.

Well, I haven't really gotten a chance to use it in a game, but I can understand your point. Should I get a hold of one, I'll keep your suggestion in mind.

December 3, 2013 11:24 p.m.

How about some Sigil Captain ?

December 17, 2013 2:47 a.m.

@ PriestessKikyo1

I've thought about adding one before, but felt I had too many anthems to make it work out. If I get a hold of one, I may try it out in place of the Mycoid Shepherd .

Doubling Season is strictly better than Primal Vigor . it works on all counters, including doubling the loyalty counters of planeswalkers when they enter the battlefield, and nobody else can benefit from it. Both work well in a Ghave deck though

December 24, 2013 1:32 a.m.

Yep, that's why I've been trying to get one. They'll both be in it, though. I'm fine with others getting a boost if it works well with more of my deck than theirs.

Mebbe Avenger of Zendikar perhaps? Could definitely use some Grave Pact and Dictate of Erebos maybe a Butcher of Malakir if youre feelin it.

September 5, 2014 4 a.m.

Uh, Butcher of Malakir is already in here. Other than that, the deck isn't heavy enough in black for Grave Pact (I tried a while back and it didn't work), so that's out. The Dictate of Erebos may get in, but I'm not sure yet. The Avenger of Zendikar was in, but by the point in time that I was playing him, I generally had most of my combo for infinite everything on board.

So I take it you are focusing on the token aspect of Ghave more then combo or counters? If that is the case, I would suggest adding in more mana ramp cards. Things like Farseek , Explosive Vegetation , Kodama's Reach , etc. Then I would maybe reduce some of your walker count, as some of them seem more like filler and could be something different. Another thing about adding in the third color is you now have access to more tutors. So things like Demonic Tutor , Diabolic Tutor , Liliana Vess are all staples in that color. The last thing I would suggest is looking into the Khans spoilers for cards. Abzan Ascendancy and others where meant for Ghave.

September 16, 2014 8:52 p.m.

I feel suggesting that I get a card that is impossible for me to get is a bit of a dead end. I will be getting multiple boxes of Khans once it comes out. I'll focus on those cards later, once they are actually in stores.

I am very rarely mana screwed (one out of every 15-20 games, I think), so cards to grab me lands has not been an issue so far.

The tutors are things I'm working on. Demonic Tutor is out for a while, until I can focus on this deck in particular (this deck is probably only my fourth most focused on deck out of the six EDH decks I currently have). Diabolic Tutor is out until I can find a bloody store that has one (not even kidding here, not one of the local shops I've been to have had one of these or a Simic Charm ). I and a friend are actually working on getting a copy of Liliana Vess for this deck. He's better at trading than I am and is also out more often than me.

And as far as the Planeswalker count goes, nope. Not lowering it. Made a promise when I was first building this that I would put in as many Planeswalkers that had something to do with tokens, counters, or buffs as I could. They tend to help me win anyways, so that helps.
