Ghen, Necromantic Weaver

Easily one of my favourite decks.

Discarding and self-milling is the easiest way to fill our graveyard, which allows us to reuse and abuse cards like Dance of the Dead, Necromancy and Animate Dead.

Anje Falkenrath is probably the best card in the deck. She does two things we want: she draws us cards and she fills our graveyard.

Heliod, God of the Sun and Daxos the Returned make us enchantments tokens so we don't run out of gas (though the cost of making these tokens is a little more expensive than I would like.)

Lurrus of the Dream-Den helps to recur our cheaper stuff without having to use Ghen, Arcanum Weaver, saving him for the bigger things.

Silent Sentinel is just good value to get our cheaper enchantments back, especially after a board wipe.

Archon of Cruelty is probably the best card to reanimate.

Teleportation Circle is a little weird here, but there are two main reasons it was added to the list. 1) There are a ton of ETB effects in this deck, getting a second ETB might not be the worst. 2) It allows us to bounce cards reanimated with Dance of the Dead, Necromancy or Animate Dead, allowing them to return without the aura attached so we can reuse the aura on a different creature. 3) It kinda acts like pseudo vigilance, I guess.

Chainer, Nightmare Adept is a card I debate about every morning, afternoon and evening. He does 3 really good things for the deck. 1) He discards a card. Perfect. Literally what the deck wants to do. 2) After discarding a card, he can be used to reanimate a card in the graveyard. He's not the ideal way to do it, but he can do it, and that's what counts. 3) This is what I consider most important. He gives creatures that aren't cast from hand haste. Amazing, we need more haste makers. But this is also why he's in debate and if points 1 and 2 didn't exist, he would be here, so would something like Goro-Goro, Disciple of Ryusei, Anger or Fervor be more useful? I'm not sure.

Dark Ritual is here because the average cmc is three, meaning, on curve, turn three is a big one and there will be choices that need to be made. By being able to churn out some of the deck's 3 cmc cards on turn two or maybe even turn one, it allows us to go that much faster. It also works really nicely to cast Zombie Infestation on turn one and using the remaining mana to cast Reanimate grabbing one of the two cards you discarded! (In my opinion a turn one Gisela, Blade of Goldnight is pretty spicy!)

Ephemerate,is just Teleportation Circle on a stick, and with rebound, can't go wrong. There are enough cards in here that benefit ETB triggers that make it seem worth it, but as the list stands I currently cannot justify the card. Maybe if I had more ETB triggers it could fit in easier, but right now, maybe pile it is.

I think Doom Whisperer is the direct upgrade to Firja, Judge of Valor, I just don't want to justify taking her out.

Moon-Blessed Cleric is an enlightened tutor on a stick (and that art!) and with the added ETB effects it seems like it would be an auto-include. But it current has to sit outside, especially since it tutors to the top of library and not into hand. Not being able to get two cards per-turn with Teleportation Circle or an Ephemerate is probably the main reason why it's not in the deck.
