The point of this deck is to gain a lot of life while slowly decreasing the opponents life total to zero.

This is done in a multiple ways.

Vizkopa Guildmage: Can drain the life from the opponent, much like Sanguine Bond while coming down earlier and having the option of given herself, Precinct Captain or even Obzedat, Ghost Council lifelink.

Tithe Drinker: Can give some early life, provide an extort trigger and trade with some early creatures - she is not all out useless later combined with Extort and Archangel of Thune.

Precinct Captain: He is just an amazing early game blocker/attacker, since he has first strike and can create blockers if he comes through unnoticed.

Fiendslayer Paladin: Amazingly good jedi powers. He can dodge the dark side Erebos and the hot fiery embers from Purphoros. Did I mention he has lifelink and first strike for a pre-normal combat damage trigger form Archangel of Thune?

Archangel of Thune: Obzedat, Ghost Council best (and worst) friend. She is on the good side and that's what he despises.. But she extents his life, so he is okay with it... For now.

Blood Baron of Vizkopa: Good luck getting rid of this guy. He is easily a huge 10/10 flying vampire of death - not counting the counters!

Obzedat, Ghost Council: Ghost Daddy likes his life extended and with all his friends and Vizkopa Guildmage his life is basically limitless.

Hero's Downfall: Spot removal at it's finest.

Last Breath : Good for removing pack rats, Nightveil Specter, Mutavault etc. Can also be used on a Precinct Captain og Elspeth token to get counters/life.

Path of Bravery: Not hard getting above 20 life - besides it gives triggers to Archangel of Thune

Elspeth, Sun's Champion: She's hot okay? And very good.

Underworld Connections: I like drawing cards.

Alright. So I played FNM yesterday. It went.. Decent, but I have quickly realised that Mono Blue and Mono Black are a pain in ass to deal with. I don't have enough answers for them.

First game: 0-2 Mono Black Devotion First game went horrible Nightveil into Demon into 2x Gary. Not much I could do about that. Second game went also really bad, could do a little more and got him down to 10, when he dropped 2 Demons and beat me to death with a whip.

Second game: 2-0 Dimir Control First game was essentially me dropping threats until he did not have any more removal in his hand. Blood Baron of Vizkopa was able to dodge almost everything except from a well timed Far / Away. Second game was 2x Tithe Drinkers, 1 Fiendslayer Paladin and a double second activation from Vizkopa Guildmage to seal the deal. That ability is really underestimated by a lot of people.

Third game: 0-2 Mono Blue Devotion Two games in a row I didn't draw my Last Breath to clear either the Cloudfin Raptor, Master of Wavesfoil or nightveil - horrible matchup and bad draws.

Fourth game: 2-1 B/G midrange First game Blood Baron was able to continue to swing in and hit, with a Vizkopa Guildmage hanging in the background to activate. Second game I was finished of by a 16/16 Kalonian Hydra after I blew my removal at Reaper of the Wild Third game was close, but a Celestial Flare onto his 5/5 Scavenging Ooze, made it clear that he couldn't get rid of Blood Baron. Overall close games and a fun matchup.

Fifth game: 2-0 R/W burn He attempted to throw as much burn to my face as possible, but battling against a lifegain deck, it was hard for him to. 2x Blood Baron of Vizkopa in the first game sealed it of and a single Blood Baron and a Fiendslayer was enough in the second.

Sixth game: 0-2 Mono Black Devotion Guy had been playing for a month, so his friends advised him to make MBD deck. It was clear that he was inexperienced, but the deck is too strong and too consistent for me to do anything against it. - He drew Erebos, God of the Dead in both games which sucks against lifegain.

Overall it was a good night. I got to test against some different decks and saw where the flaws are. I need more against MBD and MUD. Underworld Connections was amazing. I was able to draw the cards I wanted and the life loss is offset by my lifegain. I want another Blood Baron of Vizkopa instead of Obzedat, but until I get one, he will still be in main.

+1 Underworld Connections -1 Path of Bravery -2 Tithe Drinker -1 Vizkopa Guildmage +3 Soldier of the Pantheon

I found myself siding out my Tithe Drinker and always 1 or 2 Vizkopa Guildmages, so I thought of maybe adding some early aggression in turn 1 by adding Soldier of the Pantheon - he also has a chance of gaining life throughout the match because of his ability AND he can block Loxodon Smiters, Reaper of the Wilds etc.
