Hey mate, I've done some playing and there's a few things that started bothering me.

First of all, I love the Wurm, when it sticks. However, my issue with this card is growing because of Ajani. So many times I end up putting it on the bottom because it's an instant and not a creature, missing completely with Ajani. It feels like more actual creatures (That are also impactful) would make this interaction so much smoother. I might go 2 Polukranos and 2 wurms (to keep having cards that can deal with a Blood Baron and keep some wurms), or maybe just a complete 4-of, of any other threatening creature.

Other things I've been thinking about is more Blood Barons and a Primeval Bounty . I love my barons and like to run more than my current 2 against anything that plays Mizzium Mortars (So maybe another 1 or 2 in the sideboard?).

Also Primeval Bounty -looks- like it will much more reliably snowball a game out of control than Archangel of Thune , there's so much black and red removal in my meta, that can't target enchantments. (Although the combination of the Bounty and the Angel looks very appealing as well). Enchantment removal is less present than creature removal and the counters of Bounty can be placed onto Blood barons in contrast to the counters of Ajani.

+1 Elspeth. I just find myself wanting to draw it more often than I do with only 1 in the deck.

I just feel that the creature base we have is a bit inconsistent. We have several hard to remove threats, but only play one or 2 copies of them. I went through some games where I barely drew any game ending threat, even with the Connections and also that I drew some of them, but they all eventually fell to removal and I didn't draw new ones.

What are your thoughts? I'm still busy figuring out all the ins and outs of this deck, it might just me playing it badly that causes these feelings.

Grenthox, I can see the frustrations that sometimes come up when you have to put Advent of the Wurm on the bottom with Ajani. However, same issue goes with kill spells. Normally, you usually won't need to have both at the same time if you have a decently established board. Also, if you have an Ajani out on the board to use his +1 ability, I expect you to already have something else on the board as well to protect it, or otherwise it just gets swung at. Ajani, Mentor of Heroes is a very situation dependent and a very skill intensive card to play (along the same line as Thoughtseize and such) and punishes misplays of it harshly since it costs 5 mana and usually doesn't do too much on the turn it comes in, and the only reason you should be playing it with absolutely nothing else on the board is when he is the only card in your hand and you want to dig for creatures or planeswalkers. The only reason my list runs 1s and 2-ofs is BECAUSE of Ajani being in the deck. It creates diversity of threats while not too badly screwing up consistency due to the fact that you can always fetch them with Ajani. Remember that in a black-heavy meta like yours, Lifebane Zombie is, I assume, a real problem against green-based decks like this one. Advent of the Wurm has the perk of dodging that at the cost of not being able to be fetched, but it also is an instant speed creature with trample, which Polukranos, World Eater doesn't have. I have won more games (or got out of a potentially bad situation) than I can count with Advent of the Wurm whereas if it was Polukranos, World Eater , I wouldn't have been able to otherwise. It dies to removals just the same as the wurm, but it doesn't synergize with pump effects like Ajani and Archangel of Thune as much as the wurm does due to trample. Also, Polukranos works much much better in a dedicated acceleration strategy such as one the GRx monsters employ (8 dorks plus Xenagos, The Reveler gives you a truckload of mana to monster him with).

Primeval Bounty may seem like a very attractive choice to replace the angel with, but remember that it costs a whopping 6 mana to play AND does nothing useful on the turn it comes into play. This slows our deck down considerably and by the time you can play it, you would likely have already played whatever you needed to play to activate its abilities. The enchantment runs much better in a higher curve strategy which the format can't afford right now or in a super late game strategy which is best reserved to UWx control or Maze's End turbofog.

If your meta is red and black heavy, then you have to tune the mainboard and the sideboard accordingly. Experiment with moving the cards around between the 75. Creature heavy meta? Lower your curve and main more removals. Black- and red-removal heavy meta? Try Fiendslayer Paladin in the sideboard. You have so much room for activities in this color combination to easily deal with such problems.

It probably would still be ok to completely cut Ajani altogether and use the slots to increase the number of something else in your mainboard, if that's what you want. I just love the card advantage it provides.

You think that Scavenging Ooze could just be 2 more Desecration Demons? It does a better job of stopping aggro in my opinion, and to me the more Desecration Demons you play the better your deck is, because you have a higher chance of drawing more than one of them, and that card is insane in pairs, unlike Scooze.

Overall though, I like your deck =) I'm kind of sad that Ajani, Mentor of Heroes isn't in the deck though

corythackston, Ajani, Mentor of Heroes used to be in the deck along with one-of's of other threats. I opted to exclude him in the new build and instead add more copies of said threats. His non-bo with Blood Baron of Vizkopa significantly hurts the synergy so he wasn't worth running in the deck. Every time I drew him, I wish it was just something else instead. He was fun while he lasted, though.

Scavenging Ooze gives me better matchup against dredge and monoblack (only in game one in this matchup though since I side them out), the latter being prevalent in my meta.

Also, in a lot of cases based on my experience, Scavenging Ooze is a lot better against faster aggro decks since they get the option to easily play around Desecration Demon . However, I still see where you're coming from. It's just a meta-based choice I made.

Thanks for the comment!
