Bovine073,
This is exactly the kind of deck that could get me into Frontier! Big +1 from me!

A few thoughts:

  • Do you have room in the manabase for Ruins of Oran-Rief? I ran the card as a two-of with UR Thopters in OGW Standard and just loved it.
  • Padeem, Consul of Innovation maybe, for sideboard?
  • Welding Sparks may be too high-variance, but I wanted to mention it as a potential option.
  • I've started playtesting with Heart of Kiran and have fallen in love with the card. Worth a look for sure.

Draw well!

clayperce thanks a bunch! I just brewed this up today and have gotten in a few matches on Trice. Yeah, I'm sure this deck will see a lot of changes when Revolt comes out. Heart of Kiran seems interesting to me, but I think a lot of the time it is gonna be really hard crewing. At least it dodges Lightning Strike. I guess I could crew a copter into it, or something like that. For Welding Sparks, I'm not really sure if I want it because Shrapnel Blast can already kill basically anything in the format (Rhinos, etc.). I actually took down a Reality Smasher with it today. Ruins definitely seems very interesting as well. In my relatively limited testing, I am probably going to say no to it for now, but it is definitely better than Inventors' Fair. It also has good synergy with Hangarback (this may certainly change, though!).

I'm a modern player, so I'm a bit in the dark of how most of these standard formats were (as I started in FRF), but I've learned some. Once again, thanks for the comment and happy brewing!

Declaration in Stone is nice. Pia and Kiran Nalaar is also good I assure you. At least try her/him in the sideboard

Fairmount thanks! My problem with Mom and Dad is that Hangarback is my sideboard card for more grindy matchups, and with 20 lands, I'm nowhere near guaranteed to be able to cast it. I have two Hangarbacks for control matchups already. I think this deck already has a good win percentage right off the bat against Grixis control variants, because they have actually do not have any card that deals with an Ensouled Citadel alone. Certainly will still consider P&K, though. Thanks!

Tagging Argeaux, as apparently Cockatrice Frontier League is a thing over on Reddit. Thought you might be interested.
