I used to have a 1v1 jund discard deck that used
Burning Inquiry
and
Blightning
with as many copies of Megrim and/or Liliana's Caress. I liked cards that have people discard at random cause it really makes games interesting, so it had things like
Hypnotic Specter
and
Noggle Ransacker
while controlling with
Terminate
and Maelstrom Pulse. A couple of cards to take advantage of the huge number of cards in graveyards like
Lord of Extinction
One day, I was playing a 4 player free for all game with that deck and I happened to get some 3 copies of either megrim or liliana's caress out and I just so happened to have a burning inquiry and I noticed, "huh, everyone but me just lost 18 life". Eventually, I would play a 2 headed giant game and do the same thing, except the 2 opponents shared a life total, so 1 burning inquiry did 36 damage... Ok, ok, call me crazy but, we might be onto something here.
I loved that deck, it could be totally random and crazy, it didn't discriminate, it just killed everyone. I always wanted to remake that deck, but its...not in the cards... sorry... bad... Anyways, with Jace's Archivist and Reforge the Soul out now. I figure I'd throw together the start of a brutal 2 headed giant deck. I have no plans to optimize this, I just wanted to share the idea. I think as far a partner decks go, a madness deck considering all the discarding, a burn deck considering how much drawing they can do, or a nice blue counter control deck to protect Megrim and Liliana's Caress, perhaps with Runchanter's Pike.
