Maybeboard

As planeswalkers begin to break their oath, Gideon has only one answer for that. To wield the power of the Chadblade once again. Flexing on other planeswalkers and shoving them back into the lockers from whence they came. This deck is going to do three things: 1: Play low-cost, high-value creatures. 2: Punch planeswalkers so hard they explode. 3: Assert dominance.

Gideon Blackblade , in my opinion, is one of the better Gideons to choose for the oathbreaker format. Getting him out as early as turn 3 allows him to easily be able to recast later throughout the game without too noticeable of an increase. Having him the being the classic Human Soldier with indestructible every turn as well as using other loyalty abilities pairs him well with other creatures in the deck.

The first thing I would like to point out is our Oathbreaker himself, Gideon Blackblade . Gideon's goal is very simple in this deck, to go wide and win. Gideon's +1 allows us to choose from one of three options until the end of the turn: To add either vigilance, lifelink or indestructible to up to one other target creature. This allows us to adapt to a variety of different situations based on how the board is looking. There are even additions in this deck that protect us from boardwipes, or even giving one (or all) creature(s) indestructible and wiping the others with Wrath of God as our signature spell.

You may like this deck if you:

  1. Like creature based decks.
  2. Like playing decks that enjoy having the commander in play, but not a requirement to win.
  3. Enjoy playing simple decks.

You MAY NOT like this deck if you:

  1. Like casting a lot of instances/sorceries.
  2. Like infinite combos. I'm going for strong synergy for a casual playgroup.
  3. Feel as if the deck should support the commmander rather than the commander supporting the deck.
Card draw can be a struggle for mono-white. Thankfully, there is a handful of options we can choose.
  • Mentor of the Meek 1 mana to draw a card seems fair and our power curve seems likely for it.
  • Palace Jailer As long as you keep the monarch, it's free card draw and removal.
  • Mikokoro, Center of the Sea If you really need to draw cards. Can make friends too from it!
  • Sword of Fire and Ice We'll be attacking anyway, you can get 2 cards with double strike.
  • Dawn of Hope Gideon can give any creature lifelink, so gaining life should be easy in this deck.
  • - Knight of the White Orchid - Land Tax - Tithe - Weathered Wayfarer will probably find a home here due to being able to find any non-basic.

This is the list of cards that help find our lands from our decks in case we don't draw them. The need for acceleration doesn't lie within this deck. As long as you place one land a turn on the table, you should be fine.

This section is going to show all of the creatures designed to slowing down your opponents without slowing down yourself in the process.
As you know by now, Gideon gives indestructible to one creature. This can be changed to all creatures until end of turn with Odric, Lunarch Marshal , allowing us to wipe the board and have it be one sided.
  • Selfless Spirit
  • Teferi's Protection
  • Unbreakable Formation The above are examples of cards in this deck that can be used in response to expected boardwipes.
  • Thank you for taking the time to read through this primer as well as having a look at the deck. It is a work in progress so I hope for feedback/comments/suggestions/Chad Jokes. Please and thank you! I wish to see the power of the Chadblade optimized and to see how far we can go with this!
