The Pride lands of Ravnica have been chosen to be the battle grounds between the darkness and light. Gideon, Champion of Justice has his army on the march though Ravnica in hopes of restoring peace and order to the land.
Ajani, Caller of the Pride
and
Brimaz, King of Oreskos
have joined Gideon, and as the word of their union spreads the wicked tremble in anticipation. Many are inspired by Gideon's holy march, and word of a
Fabled Hero
has joined in his cause. Even the notable
Hero of Iroas
has pledged his allegiance.
Banisher Priest
from Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx strengthen the army and
Arrest
those who show unruly opposition to the cause. Rumors of
Divine Favor
to Gideon can be the only explanation for the appearance of the
Eidolon of Countless Battles
and the Spirit of the Labyrinth. With their help Ravnica may one day be purged of evil.
Early Game
The early game sets the mood for aggression and should carry over into the mid and late game courtesy of some cheap combinations. Ideally you would like to drop your
Hopeful Eidolon
on turn1, and be able to enchant it by turn2 allowing you to swing with 3 / 3 first strike and lifelink. If you miss the turn1 drop you can still have a decent 5/3 first strike or a 4/4 first strike by turn 3 by enchanting either the Spirit of the Labyrinth or the
Hero of Iroas
.
Middle Game
The
Hero of Iroas
is a great 2CMC drop that allows you to cast all of your auras a little cheaper. Luckily that will also reduce the cost for bestowing. There really isn't any drawback as to what you may decide to enchant him or another creature with. If by turn 3 you're able to bestow him with
Eidolon of Countless Battles
he'll be a meaty 5/5; assuming that he was your only creature in play at that time. If he gets removed that's fine because
Eidolon of Countless Battles
will pop into play to replace him so you won't be left feeling defenseless.
Ideally you would like to save your
Eidolon of Countless Battles
and bestow it upon the
Fabled Hero
. A beefy double strike creature will offer up anxiety as well as some hefty damage.
Brimaz, King of Oreskos
is probably one of the best 3 drop creature in standard right now, and his token generating ability feeds
Eidolon of Countless Battles
growth. If you're fortunate enough to also have
Ajani, Caller of the Pride
in play you'll be swinging with two double strike creatures instead.
