That's a fancy post if I've ever seen one. One question though; why no Brave the Elements ?

@RorakKuroda thanks for the compliment and vote if you left one. I've debated it, but chose a single target protection with scry1, Gods Willing , over a mass protection for a few reasons. first being the scry1. second was in case I brought it in, and had to use it to protect against white. if my creature was enchanted, which typically they are, I would pop off all enchantments on all of my creatures. last was that if there was a mass removal spell, like Supreme Verdict or Planar Cleansing a mass protection won't do me any good anyways. If it happens to be an overloaded Mizzium Mortars most of my creatures will have greater than 4 toughness.

Add 3x Rootborn Defenses to the sideboard for mass removal or burn.

i think Sphere of Safety would do well here since itll also benefit from enchantment creatures

@swkelly89, thanks for you comment and vote if you left one. Nice suggestion, and I'll have to check it out in play testing.

Gift of Orzhova and Sunbond could be cards to consider here. Also, Archangel of Thune could be powerful here. Maybe not as a full playset if you really want to keep your mana curve low.

@SquatchBearPig, thanks for your comments and vote if you left one. We have a similar thought process when it comes to card selection, and yes I have strongly considered these exact 3 myself. Believe it or not, I went with Divine Favor over Gift of Orzhova because of the extra defense that divine favor offers over the gift. The reason I was concerned about the extra defense is due to the popularity of Mizzium Mortars , and I wanted something that brought creatures just out of reach of being removed that way. I've also thought about having the Gift of Orzhova in the main, and Divine Favor in the sideboard to swap out when playing red.

Now because I went with Divine Favor over the Gift I shied away from Sunbond because I didn't have anything to trigger its effect right away other than a Hopeful Eidolon bestowed or otherwise. You're also right about the Archangel of Thune , which is just an incredible card, and yes you were correct as to my reasoning to exclude it to keep the mana curve low. Luckily it preforms well without her; and the idea of having to pick up a few more after putting 3 into my other deck, Lucky Charms, was making my wallet nervous.

Really fun formatting and deck description. You might consider adding Blessing . In a mono-white deck with nykthos you can do some SERIOUS damage. It's a nice, unexpected finisher.

@nashbridges52, thanks for the vote and suggestion. I'll have to check it out, especially since I have plenty of double strike in the deck which means this could be very lethal.

You don't want to use Gideon's -15 to just start over, use it one her has between 20-30 loyalty so you can use his 0 and swing for the win

@RagingJackel, thanks for your comment and vote if you left one. yes you are correct! You should always use what you have to win, and clearing the board with a beefy Gideon will certainly bring victory. When I wrote that segment about Gideon I wanted that aspect of his ability to be implied, but looking back at it again it isn't obvious. The way I have it worded makes it appear that you'll just use him to wipe and start fresh as his primary purpose. Good catch and I'll update the text.

With Journey into Nyx Coming Out, I would put in Banishing Light instead of Arrest

April 20, 2014 1:33 p.m.

Blackblade says... #15

@Carpediem, yes, great suggestion & I was thinking along those lines as you can see on post#7. I will likely replace Banisher Priest and not Arrest because I do not want to remove Auras since that will diminish the effectiveness of Eidolon of Countless Battles . Thanks for your comments and vote if you left one.

Launch the Fleet and Leonin Iconoclast could help when they come out. Launch the Fleet could buff Eidolon of Countless Battles with the +1/+1 for each creature you control. Leonin Iconoclast could get rid of pesky Enchantments and ruin most enchantment decks.

Thanks blackblade, I figured you knew it and we're just trying to type it out kinda fast

April 20, 2014 8:35 p.m.

Blackblade says... #18

@jtheu10, I'm liking Launch the Fleet for its lost cost and awesome potential to instantly make an impact on the battlefield. This needs to find its way in once Journey into Nyx is released. leonin iconoclast is a little too specific of an ability, but is definitely a sideboard consideration depending upon the opponent. Thanks for comments and your vote.

Because Leonin Iconoclast's link tag isn't work on tappedout right now for some reason I linked it to another site so you can see what we're talking about if you are unfamiliar with that particular creature.

Very nice indeed. I love the flavor of your description and your decoration is very nice too.

Seems like you've got all the great critters. I do especially like Fiendslayer Paladin against removal-heavy decks. Burn and/or black destroy effects don't bother him. Maybe something to think about?

April 21, 2014 11:52 p.m.

Blackblade says... #21

@JakeHarlow, thanks for your comments and vote if you left one. Yes indeed Fiendslayer Paladin is an excellent addition and is a must for the sideboard. It would probably be swapped in for Spirit of the Labyrinth . I'll have to make these revisions when im at my laptop again. nice pick.

Deicide might be a better option in place of Revoke Existence also, theres a ton of 3 drops where your 1 drop slot shows the least. Soldier of the Pantheon is an amazing 1 drop and against the right decks can potentially go completely unanswered and wreak havoc on your opponent. He also serves as early drops to help boost up your devotion quickly

April 22, 2014 7:05 p.m.

Blackblade says... #24

@notamardybum, I really like Deicide and that will surely find its way in. excellent replacement. The Soldier of the Pantheon is absolutely an amazing 1 drop, and great creatures like that need to find their way in. I will have to play test it in against other multi-colored decks and see how it stands up. It will likely replace Spirit of the Labyrinth in this situation. Great suggestions. Thanks for you comments and vote if you left one.
Just a side comment here, for those of you who would also like to see a nice aggro black deck check out notamardybum latest standard
These Are Not The Creatures You Were Looking For which is pretty good.
