Would you consider Diregraf Captain? Might give you some extra damage.

I consider Diregraf Captain about as good as Plague Belcher, but I'm already struggling to squeeze in cards that work my primary synergy. Especially at the 3 drop spot.

Yeah, good call. I'm designing what would be my first modern deck, and was making something similar to what you have here. My list also has/had some mill in it, though (I started with Undead Alchemist as inspiration).I wonder, could a mainboard similar to yours work with a sideboard to transform it into a mill deck?

Possibly, but I don't have much knowledge on mill cards. When thinking about sideboard, think about what cards you would take out before you think about cards to put in. I have 9 GY only cards that I can pull out. Switching to aggro or control, like I'm doing right now, might not be as successful as subbing in hate for decks in my meta, but I won't find out until I start going to FNM. Good luck, man! Thanks for the kind words.

Right on. Thanks for the advice, nd I'm looking forward to hearing how you do.

Beautiful, though I don't see why you'd need the green in there unless you want to run Lotleth Troll. You could replace the Abrupt Decays with Fatal Push or Dismember or somethin'. Just a thought, +1

I chose the Abrupt Decay and green for flexibility with GY hate and better sideboard options. Lotleth Troll was in previous builds, but right now I'm kinda bouncing back and forth between B/BG/BU

Hey, what do you think of Unbreathing Horde instead of Diregraf Colossus?

Diregraf Colossus Combos with Gravecrawler and Nantuko Husk for token generation

When you need to switch things up for your meta, there is a viable combo strat with Basal Sliver backed by Skeletal Changeling, Hivestone and Ashes of the Fallen alongside haakon.

Hey, maybe I'm just dumb, but could you explain to me how the Haakon, Stromgald Scourge + Nameless Inversion combo works? I looked through your comments and updates and couldn't find anything. How is it infinite? What is the purpose of it, (Other than creating 2/2 tokens?) I appreciate the help.

LordPrincessFrieza

Nameless Inversion is a knight card and Haakon, Stromgald Scourge can play knights from the graveyard. The -3 from nameless inversion kills enemy creatures for 2 mana a creature for as long as Haakon, Stromgald Scourge is in play. If Diregraf Colossus is in play, it nets me a 2/2 zombie as well.

Ooooh! Okay that combo just got a whole lost nastier now that I understand, thank you for your time!

+3 Necromancer's Stockpile ?

Thanks for the feedback! Necromancer's Stockpile is basically Cryptbreaker for one more mana and no draw capabilities. And the other recommendation isn’t a zombie and I limited myself to only zombies. Combined they do seem quite gnarly.

Any graveyard have gard like leyline could wreck this, what is this deck defense against it?

May 1, 2021 3:22 p.m.

bigshocka says... #23

darkbuff none, it’s a competitive kitchen table deck. Pathing a gravecrawler is a great counter, too. If you want to create a sideboard or try to make it more competitive you’re welcome to! I shelved the idea for the next couple years in the hopes of new cards being printed where I can move it back to modern format. Carrion feeder is modern legal now, so there’s hope!
