Something about this deck makes me very very very happy.

Now please excuse me as I playtest it several times fast.

What about Obzedat's Aid ?

March 5, 2014 11:54 p.m.

Haxnslash says... #4

Obzedat's Aid is a little too expensive mana wise and can't be flashed back unlike Unburial Rites . Unburial Rites can also be safely fetched with Gifts Ungiven and then be flashed back to bring a large threat into play whereas Obzedat's Aid cannot be fetched and then flashed back

The green splash for Life from the Loam works awesome with Raven's Crime and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth . It's definitely worth a couple slots.

What about adding Ashen Rider ?

Ashen Rider seems decent but I don't know what to take out. Do you have any suggestions?

Just some suggestions...

Personally I would have run the Ashen Rider over Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite when not facing lots of creature overwhelm, so maybe add to SB when facing more artifact/combo based decks.

Adroniac all those cards cannot go to graveyard and make Unburial Rites useless.

Some small birdy told me that Birds of Paradise is good, and yes it is. Turn 3 gifts into turn 4 Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite is brutal.

On a side note, Cryptic Command seems a bit color saturated for a 4 color deck. Maybe remove them in favor of the birds?

Thanks for the suggestion on Ashen Rider , DireDestine it's definitely going into the SB along with Hurkyl's Recall for Robots/Affinity. Also thanks for pointing out why the three biggest Eldrazi aren't in the deck to Adroniac

@BLEATH When I made this deck originally it had the full array of mana dorks Birds of Paradise , Noble Hierarch , etc but now the green is more of a splash for Life from the Loam and to a certain extent the Kitchen Finks (although they are dual color and white is much easier to hit). In my play testing so far I've been able to cast Cryptic Command when I've needed to but it may be a problem in the future.

I realized after the Eldrazi have that ability, sorry about that

It's fine. I originally didn't know the Eldrazi had that ability either. The only way to get one into play from your graveyard is with Goryo's Vengeance .

I feel like you still don't use unburial rites as much as you really should. I also have to ask why is there phantasmal image. Also if you really are going to stick with some control then remand is what you need, it's realy just a time walk that lets your oppenent play a land. maybe over something like spell pierce. Just my suggestions.

Ever looked into the Life from the Loam /Academy Ruins /Engineered Explosives combo? It works surprisingly well in this deck.

I've looked into the Life from the Loam + Raven's Crime combo and it made the deck a little out of focus but Academy Ruins and Engineered Explosives seems like it could be very good even if it would only hit non-land permanents with 3 or less CMC. I'll try it out.

Ya I personally have never played it, but have a good friend who plays Unburial Gifts and just goes crazy over those 2 things. Then again he's a land nut.
