Maybeboard

This deck exists because I primarily wanted a way to play legacy Elves! in a cEdh context. From there, I essentially took parts of laurentian's marwyn deck and Selvalva bro storm and this is the result. It's a bit slower than other combo decks in the format, but quite resilient.
You like:
  • forcing other people to answer you

  • combos

  • making lots of mana

  • tutors

  • being able to block tymna

You don't like:
  • losing to spot removal

  • assembling disparate combo pieces

  • creatures

Every combo comes down to assembling 4 things:
  • A creature that taps for a lot of mana. This is almost always Marwyn.

  • A way to untap that creature infinite times.

  • This can be a creature like wirewood symbiote, quirion ranger, scryb ranger

  • Paradox engine is the easiest alternative

  • A way to draw your deck.

  • Some spells draw equal to power. With a big Marwyn this is almost always enough to keep going.

  • A way to infinitely bounce creatures

  • Cloudstone curio and Temur Sabretooth get the job done

Here are some of them: - Marwyn/Priest of Titania + Staff of Dom

  • Marwyn + Umbral Mantle + Garruk Primal Hunter (or similar draw effect)

  • Marwyn + Eternal Witness + Untapper (wirewood symbiote/quirion ranger/scryb ranger) + Sabretooth

  • Marwyn + Elvish Visionary + Untapper + Cloudstone Curio

  • Marwyn + Sabretooth + Eternal Witness + Untapper + Summoner's Pact for infinite mana and infinite pact cast's to get something like elvish visionary

  • Marwyn + Paradox Engine + Beast Whisperer / Glimpse of Nature effect + a little bit of luck :) Usually this leads to a kill with Aetherflux Reservoir.

One I almost never do:

  • Marwyn/Priest of Titania + Sabretooth + Eternal Witness + Beast Within + Somberwald Stag
The core advantages of legacy Elves! are built into this deck and the upsides and downsides are actually very similar. It's a combo deck that will crush opponents as soon as they leave a window with explosive mana generation. It can grind with midrange and control decks with card draw. And most importantly for cEdh with Tymna defining the metagame - you can get into combat and you can win, use your pump spells in combat some time!

The other thing is the deck like any combo deck can brick draw itself. Some games you get only mana or only outlets or just answers. But that's very rare because green has a LOT of tutors. Maybe as much as black. But with one condition that ruins it all - you have to find green creatures with your tutors! But we try to play that to our advantage. There's an answer for every situation in here.

  • Linvala? Fight elk.

  • Torpor Orb? Viridian Zealot.

  • Cursed Totem? Rec Sage.

  • Counter spells? Bait with gaea's herald.

  • Board of artifacts/enchantments? Bane of progress.

  • Need to grind? Yisan.

All in all, this is a deck that has been a labour of love more than anything that can keep up with my local playgroup. I hope this primer is enough to show it is something you'd like to try.

  • Aethflux reservoir is the main kill condition. I have been thinking about cutting it and just leaning on killing with my incidentally good cards.

  • No duskwatch recruiter. I've had him in there and just...never needed him. When I go off I'm usually drawing my deck anyway.

  • No great oak guardian since I'm unsure what to cut.

  • Crop rotation is absolutely necessary. It fetches cradle or nykthos or one of your various answers to tabernacle.
