The Gitrog Monster combines the three of the four themes I love most in EDH (Land-shenanigans , Graveyard-interaction & infinite combos; only Elf-tribal is falling a bit short with only 6 elves in the deck).

This deck seeks to abuse the absurd effect of its commander to draw a card, whenever a land enters your graveyard from anywhere, to draw into all the cards you need to win the game. Those are mostly powerful lands or (near) infinite combos.

While goldfishing I get a pretty reliable turn 7 combo-kill or Marit Lage. Nevertheless, since this is a first prototype of the deck that hasn't seen any real-life playtesting yet, I couldn't say how susceptible the deck is to interaction. (I imagine stuff like Relic of Progenitus or Rest in Peace might be a pain in the a..)

I feel, I am not playing enough control and am focussing to much on combos. Also it might be a good idea to cut some of the lands and add a couple more basics.

In the maybeboard there are some options I consider that would change the style of the deck a bit. But I am really not sure what to cut.

"Powerful lands" (Marit Lage)

• Dark Depths + Thespian's Stage
• Dark Depths + Vampire Hexmage
• Dark Depths + Thief of Blood

Endless Mana

• Umbral Mantle + Viridian Joiner
• Argothian Elder + Gaea's Cradle + Wirewood Lodge with at least 1 other creature on the battlefield.
• Argothian Elder + Golgari Rot Farm + Wirewood Lodge
• Argothian Elder + Umbral Mantle + any two lands that together produce at least : Lands/land-combinations that can do this are Gaea's Cradle, Golgari Rot Farm and Cabal Coffers + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
• Both Umbral Mantle-combos do also work with Necrotic Ooze, when the corresponding creature is in the graveyard (and the other conditions are met).

Payoffs for (endless/a lot of) Mana

• Dark Depths
• Walking Ballista just shoot them.
• Umbral Mantle + Viridian Joiner in itself is a threat, to anyone who doesn't have a blocker up.
• Treetop Village + Umbral Mantle same, but tramples over those pesky creatures without hesitation.
• Dakmor Salvage + Pack Rat + The Gitrog Monster all the rats.
• Dakmor Salvage + Raven's Crime + The Gitrog Monster they have no hands anymore.
• Dakmor Salvage + The Gitrog Monster + Worm Harvest harvest all those worms.
• the last three combos also work with any other land in hand, if you have Abundance out.
• Ever After + Fleshbag Marauder + Sidisi, Undead Vizier they have no creatures anymore.
• But also just dropping all your spells can be very strong, since this deck plays a lot of good value.

"Insta-Win" endless Mana and Damage

Necrotic Ooze + Walking Ballista + Viridian Joiner + Devoted Druid + . (Lightning Greaves and Buried Alive are optional.)You want Devoted Druid + Viridian Joiner + Walking Ballista in your graveyard to empower the ooze (that's what Buried Alive can do for you). Then you put a +1/+1 counter on the ooze, using the and then it is Game Over. Ooze tapps for untapps by putting a -1/-1 counter on itself (aka removing a +1/+1 counter) and puts a +1/+1 counter on itself for : incoming, which means endless +1/+1 counters, which means endless damage. If you have two lands out that can produce together, you can also use Argothian Elder instead of Viridian Joiner

Other combos/synergies

• Crucible of Worlds + Wasteland and its substitute Ghost Quarter + Ramunap Excavator
• Dakmor Salvage + The Gitrog Monster
• Drownyard Temple + The Gitrog Monster
• Dryad Arbor + Meren of Clan Nel Toth + The Gitrog Monster
• Misty Rainforest + The Gitrog Monster or any other fetch- or cycleland.

The dredge package

• Dakmor Salvage + Skirge Familiar + The Gitrog Monster
• Barren Moor + Life from the Loam + The Gitrog Monster or any other cycle land and endless/a bunch of mana.

These combos let you mill your whole deck and get a bunch of cards in your hand. Then you can get the Necrotic Ooze-insta-kill-combo into play. If you have a way to get lightning greaves onto the BF you win on the spot / otherwise just put two creatures onto the Library with Volrath's Stronghold (Endstep and Upkeep before the sac/draw trigger from The Gitrog Monster) and you have a chance at winning the next turn.
