Decks similar to this one?

Hardly any, Griselbrand is the enabling card and he hasn't been around very long.

Seething Song and Through the Breach are possible for this kind of deck, same with emarukul.

I splashed blue at some point for Gifts Ungiven and that worked pretty nice, plus Snapcaster Mage could come in handy.

if you're looking for other easy win decks try slintertwin, my version is Mutliplying-Mites

I'm perplexed...let's say my opponent plays Fog just after i counter(using pact of negation) his removal he used on my Grisel.Answering to that i draw 7 cards. If i draw another pact of negation, can i use it to counter the fog,or will it be too late because both effects will be already resolved?

you can use everything you've listed at instant speed,

if you have enough life at that point you can use Griselbrand s ability in response to them casting Fog . Then once that's resolved you get priority again to cast Pact of Negation before fog resolves.

Went off turn 2. Just hope that they don't have a flier but after the first swing they might not anyway. +1 from me well done. Recommending this deck to a friend who wants to run reanimator.

Have you considered playing Lightning Axe as a discard outlet? It will help to get rid of opposing Deathrite Shaman s that can really hamper you from going off.

I might be a bit rusty on my rules but don't you need a legal target to cast the spell?so if your opponent doesn't cast a creature you might be stuck with a dead hand? This IS glass cannon, but I'm going to do everything in my ability to make sure Griselbrand is in the grave when I want him to be.

Yes, you do need a target to be able to cast this spell. But I was thinking that in any given Modern match-up there are bound to be creatures on the table (the exception being storm and tron and some other fringe combo decks like this one; which is why I would keep Funeral Charm in the sideboard)

The card helps your strategy while also getting rid of annoying cards that might hamper your combo (Ethersworn Canonist , Gaddock Teeg , Deathrite Shaman ) otherwise you would need extra cards to get rid of these, and they do get maindecked often, so you can't keep your solutions in your sideboard only. And the card can give you an extra turn to live against kiki-jiki pod, melira pod or splinter twin decks. It deals with Tarmogoyf and Restoration Angel .

I think it's highly unlikely that they won't have a target for the Lightning Axe by the time you're ready to play card:Goryo's Vengeance. And if they don't have any in their deck, it might still be a viable play (especially if you're on the draw) to just not play a land on turn 1 and discard Griselbrand during your cleanup step.

I have discarded Griselbrand on cleanup still managed a turn 2 win. pretty easy actually ;)

I will test Lightning Axe , I might run a split and side as appropriate.

Well done. at first i looked through the cards and did not see the synchronicity, and thought, well he is rather daft. but then i read the description. then it hit me, WOW! it Just clicked. +1 from me good sir.

i would just replace the charm with Thoughtseize if you are only using charm for discard. But why not try something simpler, like card:Raven's Crime or Cry of Contrition ? the later would work off of the Lightning Axe too. (with killing the creature that is).

I've considered Thoughtseize for a while, but for a T1 forced discard that 2 life might end up being 7 extra cards drawn when Griselbrand comes out which might in turn cost me the game.Any synergy between Lightning Axe and Cry of Contrition is irrelevant, I only care about 1 discard effect and that's whatever one gets Griselbrand in the graveyard fastest. Funeral Charm at the very least pulls double duty as the only removal in the deck and is in no way worse than card:Raven's Crime or Cry of Contrition .

Okay, I might come off as an idiot, but playtesting this deck a couple of times, I thought:

"I don't see how the hell to win on turn 1-4"

Can someone explain how? Do you just have to have a stupidly good hand or am I missing something?

have you read the description?

discard Griselbrand asap and reanimate with card:Goryo's Vengeance. Draw as many cards as you can, attack, cast Fury of the Horde and Soul Spike for free and keep drawing more cards till you win.

I can't seem to get Griselbrand in the graveyard fast enough. It takes like 4 turns every time I try. What am I doing wrong?

pheonix_222 says... #19

sometimes the draw just isn't there. This deck is kind of janky, If you dont have any discard spells in hand you might consider missing your T1 land drop in favor of just discarding on cleanup.
