Updating, check back often for changes:
Overview:
My Glissa, the traitor EDH (commander) deck. This deck can hold its own in multiplayer and 1v1 in all but the most cutthroat, competitive environments. The main idea is to control the board in a rock type way until your Glissa recursion (read: card advantage) or combos wins you the game. The three big "themes" or synergistic packages are built around: artifacts for Glissa (duh), value creatures for birthing pod and necrotic ooze combo.
Now these packages are not exclusive, for example podding away a creature putting it in the grave for necrotic ooze to pick up it's ability is common.
Card Choices & Key Interactions (alphabetically):
Acidic Slime - Value creature, good stop on the 5cc Pod train and a "rattlesnake" in combat
Ambition's Cost Solid card draw
Barter in Blood removal that gets around hexproof and indestructible gives Glissa multiple tickets to valuetown
Beast Within catchall removal that leaves them with a creature that loses to Glissa in combat a minor drawback that can even be a boon.
Birds of Paradise turn two Glissa, allows necrotic to tap for black (when it inevitably ends up in the graveyard), and a 1cc Pod train stop. Useful for when you want to turn a wurmcoil token into a two drop (usually devoted driud)
Birthing Pod if you get this in play good things happen. Our main win condition (besides attacking), Necrotic Ooze conveniently costs one more than our commander. I'll have a section below dedicated to Pod chains.
Bonehoard creatures die in EDH, meaning this will get big, slapped on Glissa will get you random commander damage voltron wins against unsuspecting opponents.
Brutalizer Exarch #1 6cc Pod target. The value this guy provides is immense.
Buried Alive with necrotic ooze in play this reads "win the game" otherwise it feeds the various reanimation spells with juicy targets
Carnifex Demon a fat flyer that can trigger Glissa and gives an ability to necrotic, solid.
Champion of Stray Souls mass reanimation. Allows an ooze with infinite mana to plop every creature in the deck into play to kill that one guy that turn 0 a leyline of sanctity.
Cultivate does what it does
Darksteel Plate our win conditions are creatures, this protects them from people who insist on trying to kill them.
Devoted Driud ramp and gives ooze the all important ability to untap. Key combo piece.
Diabolic Tutor get that thing your missing. Will become Demonic Tutor when I free it from my Oloro deck or pick up a second.
Duplicant creature exile effect that can be reccured with Glissa. Also a solid pod target.
Elvish Aberration early ramp late game it's in the grave for ooze shenanigans. I've never cast this in a game, but I've used it it every game.
Engineered Explosives used most often to clear tokens, and pesky 1cc things like trinkets (top, skullclamp, gravedigger's cage). Glissa brings it around again for increased fun (on your part).
Executioner's Capsule creature removal that returns with Glissa, with enough mana this can clear the board over the course of a turn or two.
Exhume my things usually are stronger or can kill whatever they pick. Run in conjunction with Nihil spellbomb if your playgroup Has people that run scary things (Linvala makes this deck pound its fist against the ground in frustration)
Fauna Shaman finds us all the beasties we need to win, turns ooze into survival of the fittest when it has infinite untaps. Speaking of which if I had one Survival of the Fittest would certainly be in the deck.
Fertile Ground I for some unfathomable reason didn't have a golgari signet, this is its replacement, it gets the job done.
Fierce Empath finds our big guys, wears clamp like a champ.
Forbidden Orchard THE BEST LAND IN THE DECK. Fixes colors. Gives us a creature to kill and return goodies via Glissa. Makes ratchet bomb and engineered explosives recurr themselves when set on zero. Makes perilous myr into a three mana "draw two then return an artifact to your hand" sorcery (often returns itself for psuedo buyback) if you have skullclamp. see Mindslaver below.
Garruk Relentless removal and creature tutor all in one. Also makes tokens from time to time.
Garruk Wildspeaker ramp.
Golgari Cluestone ramp and occasionally an (expensive) source of Card advantage via Glissa
Gravity Well makes Glissa eat flyers and plugs a weakness of the deck, would probably be spidersilk armor if I had one.
Grim Poppet turns ooze into a machine gun and grants the potential for infinite untaps (untap ooze with devoted druids ability while poppets ability is on the stack, repeat)
Horizon Spellbomb ramp and draw that can be recycled through Glissa.
Life/Death usually used for Death occasionally used with either garruks overrun ultimate for a lot of damage out of nowhere.
Lightning Greaves see darksteel plate, add hasty shenenagians.
Maelstrom Pulse catch all
Makeshift Mannequin reanimation, would be animate dead if I had it.
Mindslaver with forbidden orchard and Glissa allows us to control a player for the rest of the game, just attack into Glissa to recur. Game ending in 1v1 and powerful in multiplayer.
CUT Moriok Replica reccurable draw, might be too cute, phyrexian arena would probably be better, but again greedy Oloro has my only copy. CUT
Mulch puts stuff in our yard to come back latter or be used by ooze.
Necrotic Ooze win. Will have his own section below to flesh out interactions.
Night's Whisper yep.
Pack Rat discard outlet in a pinch usually used by ooze to copy itself.
Perilous Myr loves it some skullclamp and Glissa action.
Phyrexian Delver reanimation on a strong 5cc body.
Phyrexian Gargantua would be grave titan if I had one, value pod target.
Pilgrim's Eye ramp and pod value that interacts with Glissa
Primal Command finds us our good creatures also does some other things situationally.
Quillspike gets infinitely big with devoted Druid and allows ooze to do the same, which means infinite mana, untaps, and other fun time shenanigans.
Ratchet Bomb see engineered explosives. (someone plays Proshh and another frequents his shattergang token themed deck in my playgroup hence the token hate)
Reckless Spite removal does what removal does, twice.
Royal Assassin commander and ooze synergy.
Satyr Wayfinder see mulch
Sheoldred, Whispering One Glissa Trigger goodness that recurs our stuff, all on a beatstick that provides a 7cc Pod target.
Shriekmaw removal on a stick. Pod target.
Skinrender see above, should be Solemn Simulacrum but mine are used elsewhere
Skullclamp does dirty, dirty, card advantagy things.
Sylvok Replica removal, use on an artifact creature or an enchantment creature (thanks theros block) for extra value.
Toxic Deluge removal kills en masse even pesky indestructible things.
Tribute to Hunger see above just not en masse.
Twisted Abomination ramp and ooze synergy, again have never cast but have used every time I've drawn it.
Victimize recently learned this card existed, promptly bought 10 @ $.50 each and have put in it every deck that runs black. So much value.
Viridian Longbow turns Glissa into a sniper and ooze into a win condition with infinite untaps. Comboes with the soon to be added Thornbite Staff to make Glissa pings turn out like picking flowers with a .50 cal, brutal.
Visara the Dreadful see royal assassin.
Wayfarer's Bauble see horizon spellbomb, no draw but puts it in play. Would be expedition map if I had a Urborg, tomb of yawgmoth to go with my lonely cabal coffers.
Wickerbough Elder value removal and ooze benefactor
Wurmcoil Engine wears a bonehoard like a champ. Super value time to be podded and reccured.
Will update with more soon, specifically pod and ooze interactions.
