Glissa Recursion EDH

Commander / EDH

KSword844

I heard on a Command Zone Podcast that the player who puts the most lands into play over the course of the game has the best chance of winning that game. So I decided to test that out.

I made the commander Glissa, the Traitor because I knew I wanted some early defense, and her ability to recur artifacts that sacrifice themselves for lands was great for the theme.

After that I knew that I wanted almost every card that grabbed more than one land and bonus if they got put into play. This isnt really a deck that is trying to ramp out big mana then stop, its a deck that wants to end up with the most lands at the end of the game, things like mana rocks and mana elves can die, but lands don't (at least in my playgroup.)

Finally you need something to spend all of the mana on, and I decided to go with activated abilities instead of big Eldrazi. This is because the Eldrazi decks wants to ramp out a ton of mana very quickly, whereas this deck is trying to have mana flowing well into the late game, and well past the point where you are tapping out for Eldrazi. I grabbed every lasting activated ability in the Golgari colors that I could find, and most of them end up creating 1/1 tokens.

So the object of the deck is to set up all of the mana you could ever dream of, then spend all of it every single turn activating abilities and buying back spells, then pumping everything and killing everyone. It's a bit of a roundabout way to do a token strategy, but it is loads of fun to play some cards that don't get seen much.
