FNM Report —April 21, 2012

4-0'd the FNM. Lost only one game.
2-0 Venser Control. He didn't see Venser once, I ran him over. Negate proved useful from sideboard, stopped DoJ/Gale.

2-1 WUGr Pod. Stupid pod decks! Weirdest sideboard plan: -1 Phantasmal Image, Mana Leak, Gitaxian Probe. +1 Celestial Purge, Dungeon Geists, Dissipate. It seemed to work, sortof? Need to put Grafdigger's Cage into sideboard just for this guy, I think.

2-0 RG Aggro. Complete blowout first game with a Mana Leak on a mana dork, then he couldn't do anything after that. Second game was slightly more 'fair', but still a beating. Drogskol Captain image'd twice hurts.

Finals 2-0 vs that Pod deck. First game I had a god hand of Delver, Leak, Darkslick Shores, Probe, Probe, Island, Captain. On the draw, drew a Delver. Probe revealed a slow hand except for Blade Splicer, he'd played Birds of Paradise, Probe drew me a Gut Shot which took out the bird. Delver and Darkslick... He played land and passed, Delver reveals a Ponder and flips, gets in for 3. Ponder shows me two Lingering Souls and a Glacial Fortress. Stack for delver flip next turn, play delver... It was over very quickly.

LoL that's not sad, blue is good :P

But you talk about Snappy in your description, but he's nowhere to be found! :P

Love delver decks, I got one myself. +1!

There, that looks better. Not convinced on Thought ScourMTG Card: Thought Scour yet, but I'll give it a chance. 1of Dungeon GeistsMTG Card: Dungeon Geists to keep the curve as low as possible. 1of Revoke ExistenceMTG Card: Revoke Existence because Curse of Death's HoldMTG Card: Curse of Death's Hold exists.

Playing with my Vampire Magic deck helped me see how to better determine how many of each card I really needed in the deck. There's a wide variety of things I want to do with Delver, but the be-all and end-all is 'Hit people in the face with flying dudes', and all of the card choices and amounts reflect that simple fact.

Thought ScourMTG Card: Thought Scour is good but you gotta run Runechanter's PikeMTG Card: Runechanter's Pike. It helps feeding the pike and finds target for Snappy.

You may want to take a look at your mana base though. You want a blue on turn one, so in my opinion, you should cut 1 or 2 Moorland HauntMTG Card: Moorland Haunt, add 2 other Seachrome CoastMTG Card: Seachrome Coast. Also maybe -1x Glacial FortressMTG Card: Glacial Fortress for +1x Darkslick ShoresMTG Card: Darkslick Shores

I ran also this version at the game day of Dark Ascension, and trust me you WANT (:P) 4 Lingering SoulsMTG Card: Lingering Souls and 4 Drogskol CaptainMTG Card: Drogskol Captain they're the bread and butter of the deck! For that you should cut DissipateMTG Card: Dissipate main board and keep em in the sideboard (as you already have)

And in the sideboard, run some [Negate]]s, because Corrosive GaleMTG Card: Corrosive Gale is a card you should fear !

Hope that helps!

And if you want to annoy the hell out of Pod players, run Grafdigger's CageMTG Card: Grafdigger's Cage!

Cage is kinda vulnerable to removal though. ;)

I already have all the nonbasic lands in there that I own. I need a second Darkslick and a third Seachrome, replacing one of the Fortresses and Haunts.

And I'm already running Runechanter's PikeMTG Card: Runechanter's Pike? ;)
