Try Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury. It's great!

6tennis, what would you suggest I take out for him?

March 18, 2015 8:27 p.m.

Probably Damnable Pact, but I'm not sure. Maybe take the 2 Mardu Charms out of the sideboard?

Damnable Pact is the only card draw in the deck so I don't think I can remove that one. I am not sure about having a guy like him in the sideboard either because i wouldn't know when to put him in. I think he is a strong card but with all my high cost card buffs I think he would be the weakest of them all even with the dash giving the extra impact. Thanks for the suggestion though.

i think that you should add Dragon Fodder

March 28, 2015 4:40 p.m.

no Outpost Siege? seems like an auto include because of it's second mode. damage when they enter, damage when they leave.

Undead_Assassin my main reason of not having it in was because i was finding it too slow and having it be 4 cost for essentially the same damage as impact tremors. With Damnable Pact not doing enough for me lately I am switching them out and seeing how it goes.

samosjuju I considered more Dragon Fodders but I am not sure I need any more token generation. I will playtest more and see if I do but so far I always have had enough.

I'm guessing sorin is present mainly for his plus to increase your life and token generation, although weak, since the ultimate is not likely to happen. Maybe brutal hordechief would be more useful? You'll have a ton of creatures and all that matters is them attacking, which will drain your opponent's life and increase yours, which will probably end a game faster.

Hey there!

I have a very similar deck to yours!

I got two questions to you.

How is your expirience with tremor inflicts and secure the waves?

I took out the mardu charm and put in two valorous stance. What do you think about the mardu charm?

First i was building my deck like you did, but now i changed it to more of mardu midrange with a bit of token theme.

This is my deck at the moment:

Nice deck! +1

Greetings

Steinbaum, I have yet to play this at an FNM. I play against a group of people at work but many are still learning. I will let you know whenever I actually go which will be next week since I am drafting this week. Impact Tremors does well from what I can tell so far but Mardu Charm has been one of the main cards I am reconsidering.

oh and Secure the Wastes is amazing.

Thank you!

Im also go to the next fnm standard at my local store.

I try to play without mardu for the moment. It's not doing as much as i'd like it to do.

Secure sounds awesome, just picked up a couple but couldnt test it. Glad you like it :)

So good luck at the draft!

you forgot Dragon Fodder

Also, Goblin Rabblemaster is a great card in this deck, effectively sitting on players who do not react. I also think dictate is more of a sideboard card than anything.

I had Dragon Fodder in my maybe board but I am not including it since I have enough token creation. I did move Dictate of Erebos to my sideboard and added 2 Goblin Rabblemaster. I didn't include them initially because of their cost but now I just don't care.

Bumped rabble's up to 4 because rabble.

I would suggest bumping up the Purphoros, God of the Forge to at least three. You say it's part of your win con so you want to make sure you get to him. Also, I think Ultimate Price might be worth putting in the main. Stormbreath Dragon is seeing a lot of play and all your removal is white. Nice deck though. +1

Crackling Doom bypasses protection. I do want 3 Purphoros, God of the Forge but I am not sure what to drop down. Everything is pretty important.

Some cards I think might work in this build... Devouring Light: Because convoke and cast for free is always a great trick. Foul-Tongue Shriek: Solid finisher. Harsh Sustenance: In this deck its a life-gain fireball and can also be an unexpected finisher. Lastly, I would consider removing Goblin Rabblemaster in favor of Monastery Mentor. At the end of the day they are both 2/2's for 3 mana that spit out 1/1's. Except for the fact that rabblemaster forces your other goblin tokens to attack. This will probably result in you having no chump blockers. On the other hand Monastery Mentor will spit out guys each time you cast a spell and will get bigger each time you cast a spell. So bottom line as I see it is rabblemaster has the potential to screw you over accidentally while mentor does not. Hope some of this helps!

Devouring Light requires a board state and for them to attack to utilize it best which I don't want to rely on. Foul-Tongue Shriek is a win more card to me so I don't want to rely on it. Harsh Sustenance also requires a board state which I don't want to rely on.

Monastery Mentor vs Goblin Rabblemaster...I have tried mentor many times and it is just too slow. When M15 cycles it will take the spot most likely but I have played it many times and it just never reliably gets a token.

April 21, 2015 7:55 a.m.

Foul-Tongue Shriek is not a win-more card. It just wins. When you go to swing with 4 tokens and you cast a Shriek, that's a better Lightning Helix straight to the dome, for one mana. Later in the game when you go at em again for.. lets say, six tokens, and you Shriek, that's a one-mana twelve life swing. I played Mardu Tokens for some time, and rapidly began to rely heavily on the Shriek effect (i also ran a few Brutal Hordechief as Shriek on a stick) to close out games. It makes tokens deceptively bursty.

The problem is I never swing with tokens. Purphoros and impact tremors are my main source of damage. I usually use them mostly as blockers and only attack in an open board. If I was going to go that route I would take out most of my removal and add more token generators.

My objective with this deck is not to rely on a boardstate. If I start doing that then the minute someone puts out a Virulent Plague I would almost be completely shut down (unless I draw a 2 of Utter End) and those would all be dead cards when I could atleast be dealing damage and removing bombs that they play.

Its not that im saying you are giving me bad ideas. They are totally valid and would work. They just won't work with the setup I am going for due to trying to be midrange. If anything I think I need to replace my removal after removing dictate.

ZestyTurtle says... #23

Just an idea I had: Move your Utter Ends to sideboard, completely drop Radiant Purge and 1 Anger of the Gods from side, and put 2 Butcher of the Hordes in main. I ran a similar tokens + Impact Tremors deck for Game Day, and Butcher came in to save the day in a lot of the games.

you could consider Collateral Damage to sac a token after you chump block it.

FrostyJams says... #25

+1 for the Purphoros, God of the Forge deck, I have one very similar that uses less removal and more token generation Purphoros, God of Tremors I would appreciate your feedback because it struggles against any deck with lifegain.

When I playtested your deck against another one of mine, I spent quite a bit of time removing creatures and not so much on creating tokens to achieve the wincon. That turns the deck into more of a "longrange" than midrange deck. :) If that suits you, I would suggest adding Congregate to bump your life up to keep you in the game long enough to get your wincon.

I am also not sure about Outpost Siege, I ran it for a while and just found that it takes a 4 mana slot that could be my Purphoros drop or more tokens being cast so I ultimately pulled it because i felt it stalled my turn 4-5 drops. But if you are typically going to really long games I can see it's usefulness.
