also needs more Varolz, the Scar-Striped

Those are both just barely good enough for me to be willing to pay $2.

September 10, 2013 11:45 a.m.

well Death's Shadow and Phyrexian Dreadnought both combo with Varolz, the Scar-Striped . one mana for 12 or 13 +1/+1's? yes, please!

I actually did add those cards briefly, but ended up removing them. I can see situations in which I'd want to scavenge Phyrexian Dreadnought , but the different in mana isn't that huge from just bringing him back and saccing him. Also, Death's Shadow isn't useful except to combo with Varolz, the Scar-Striped , so I'd be worried about drawing him when I couldn't use him. Besides, Phyrexian Processor (and Butcher of Malakir ) are taking their places, and I think playing Phyrexian Processor really sounds fun.

If you're talking budget, I think that Mortivore should be superior to Boneyard Wurm in most situations. Otherwise it's just the Master of Meat a.k.a. Lord of Extinction over here I guess... +1 from me!

Oh wow, I didn't see that Mortivore was ALL graveyards. Definitely taking your advice on that one.

September 15, 2013 5:32 p.m.

Phyrexian Devourer is an instant win condition with Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord .

September 30, 2013 1:19 p.m.

keattz says... #9

Wow, you're right. Phyrexian Devourer is so good that I think I'm actually going to replace Phyrexian Dreadnought with it, because (a) a lot of times it's actually better and (b) winning because of Phyrexian Dreadnought leaves me feeling rather hollow. At least, in all of my playtesting, the best move has pretty consistently been tutoring for Sheoldred, Whispering One and Phyrexian Dreadnought and just winning.

maybe Skarrg Goliath as another fatty/potential Bloodrush target?

October 10, 2013 2:30 p.m.

keattz says... #11

Skarrg Goliath is sitting at the peak of my mana curve, so I'm kind of scared of adding him. The Bloodrush cost is only 7, but that means I HAVE to sacrifice the attacking creature as it's attacking, which means I have to have three more mana open for Jarad's ability, and I don't actually get to attack.

keattz says... #12

Whoops, I misread Bloodrush. I could actually attack with it. Still, though, peak of my mana curve. If anything, I'm considering on getting rid of one of my 8-costs.

Needs more Lord of Extinction . Sack it, kill everyone.

Lord of Extinction is super-high on my priority list, but it's too many dollars for this deck right now.

Savage Lands 's Colour Identity contains Red and cannot be used in this deck.

Budget Friendly Suggestions:

Burnished Hart and Solemn Simulacrum offer more ramp. They can be sac'd and recurred repeatedly for value.

Wood Elves is another ramp option. He's a lot better if you run Overgrown Tomb .

Birthing Pod is an amazing creature tutor engine.

Bonehoard and Nighthowler are Mortivore #2 and #3.

Phyrexian Arena is a staple card draw engine.

Gaze of Granite is a great Black/Green sweeper.

Living Death clears the board then recurs your sac'd fatties.

Beast Within is one of the best removal spell ever printed. It's basically an instant-speed Vindicate . Add it back in.

Command Tower is a staple land in multicoloured decks. It's also being reprinted in the new Commander precons.

Expensive Suggestions:

Genesis offers repeated creature recursion.

Kokusho, the Evening Star takes chunks out of life totals.

Demonic Tutor is a staple tutor.

Maelstrom Pulse is a Black/Green staple removal spell.

Hero's Downfall is a great removal spell. An upgraded Murder .

I definitely like some of those cards, but I'm not sure what to take out? Currently I'm thinking of...

Regarding your Mortivore -like cards, I hardly ever actually win by saccing Mortivore . (Really he's just a placeholder until I happen upon a Lord of Extinction .) He's often smaller than Ghoultree , and I usually prefer something with more utility such as Pelakka Wurm or Sylvan Primordial , even if they don't hurt quite as much.

What do you think of these changes? Still trying to figure out one more card to remove.

October 23, 2013 1:56 p.m.

Awesome EDH right here. Badass AND affordable. I can't help but think that Reaper of the Wilds can fit well in there though. With Jarad sacrificing thing, RotW scry ability can come in handy.

Nice, I always like to see a well built Karador deck. This looks a lot like the Karador deck I used to play before I went insane and built this monstrosity: EDH Junk Revamp.

Changes I'd recommend:

Boneshredder -> Shriekmaw . (Same effect, but likely to damage an opponent and can be evoked from the graveyard with Karador.

Add High Market and Phyrexian Tower . They are really good sac outlets that don't require a real card slot.

I've always had Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter on the sidelines for my deck. He hits hard, gains life, kills creatures, has evasion, and is a free sac outlet. The downside is that he's pretty expensive and eats removal.

I might recommend a bit more ramp. Something like Exploration effects might get you going faster.

Oh, and Hermit Druid is probably the best creature ever printed for a Karador deck.

I'm sure you've answered this 100x before but have you ever considered Grave Pact or Martyr's Bond ? With so much of your stuff dying to activate effects, it would be helpful to take down some of your opponents stuff too.

July 9, 2014 3:17 p.m.

keattz says... #22

Good idea, I'll have to do some testing with Grave Pact .

July 10, 2014 10:34 a.m.

For another sac outlet and general utility you could run Grim Backwoods Also, for more recursion you should take a look at Reya Dawnbringer . I looked at this deck mainly because I believe the title to be a Metalocalypse reference.

keattz says... #24

I tried Grim Backwoods and just didn't think it was worth it for 2BG. Also, I'm not a fan of Reya Dawnbringer . Honestly, I'm consider taking out Sheoldred, Whispering One just because he costs so much and I don't immediately get an effect.

My deck has a similar play style to this. Maybe looking at it might help. Check it out
