Hey there! I will try and provide as much a I can! Sorry for spacing everything out, I want to make it all usable!

First off, as a personal, little quirky rule, I NEVER run a complete play-set of a card; unless of course it is the/a significant part of the deck theme.

I always consider 2 overarching characteristics of a deck; field neutralization and theme preservation.

Field neutralization is important because you can have the most intricate deck theme in the world, but if you get milled, or get killed in the first couple of turns from a quick deck like Sphere of Safety for example, you are gone. I would suggest for this deck looking at some simple, quick drops. A Grasp of Darkness is a 2-drop, but will either kill the threat or tactically prevent a big hit. I applaud your inclusion of that card into this deck. Other ways to do this are simple vengeance cards. For this, I would recommend a Royal Assassin . These are handy because they are low-drop, and if you DO get hit, they won't hit again.

Deck theme is perhaps more important, though they are close. That part however, I can offer little advice. Even if you don't know the cards you want, just try to think of what you want it to do and go from there.

Hope it helps!

epicsnailman Oh how did I forget about that!! What do you suggest taking out for that? And about the land, I really only need 4 Swamps to be okay during a game so that's why its only 20.

Lightehammer I like the Royal Assassin but I don't know what to take out for it. I'm also getting some Phyrexian Obliterator . The deck has a lot of synergy and I don't see what I REALLY need to cut out.

Thanks for the help, guys!!

Crypt Ghast is one of my favorite creatures for monoblack. This is especially true if you start throwing in cost heavy creatures like Griselbrand or any various X spells you can find in black.

Rootkit9208 Yeah, I was thinking if I put Crypt Ghast in, I'd put in some Consume Spirit .

would definitely work. You could even extort it just to make your opponent scratch their head. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly certain that multiples of Crypt Ghast stack.

Liliana of the Dark Realms would be a nice addition

Rootkit9208 I don't think they stack but I'll have to look up the rulings on that.

TheHamster I'll definitely consider it. Haha

nice, it's byfar the best planeswalker to fit into this specific deck since it will help ramp swamps, and it fits the themes of your instants

TheHamster I agree. Once I hit her ulti, I can cast a Mutilate and still have enough mana to cast some creatures. Plus if I put in some Consume Spirit , that's an automatic win. Thanks for the suggestion.

Sheoldred, Whispering One is also a very good Bottomless Vault andVolrath's Stronghold are older but work wonderfully, i also know you have alot of card options and it can be overwhelming, but i would try to run 22 to 24 lands in a 60 card format, 20 will often leave you mana dry, unless again use use Liliana of the Dark Realms to mana ramp, of witch case i would still suggest 22

TheHamster Sheoldred, Whispering One is a good card but its cmc is just too high. I like keeping my decks around 4-5 cmc.

As for Bottomless Vault and Volrath's Stronghold , I won't be able to use them because this is in Extended haha. This deck used to have 23 lands but I kept getting flooded so I dropped it to 20 and I still get consistent land drops.

i notince you havebeen mentioning Consume Spirit alot, might i suggest Exsanguinate instead, you can't target creatures with it, but in a multiplayer game, for the same mana cost, you target each oponent

TheHamster I might throw Exsanguinate into the sideboard for multiplayer games. Haha

PriestessKikyo1 Thanks!! This deck got me 2nd place at my LGS's Modern tournament. 1st place went to my friend who was running the same exact deck haha.

I did end up playtesting it against a white weenie deck- it started out a bit slow because the deck had several cards with protection from black, but once your Obliterators hit the field it was game over. Congrats on your tourney win. :)
