Summary:

**update: ignore everything after this... we're going for commander damage and control now... it's more fun and more casual.

The deck is a combo/control deck going for self-mill and Thassa's Oracle , Laboratory Maniac , or Jace, Wielder of Mysteries combo wins, with infinite turn combos also easily at hand if the table is more competitive. *The deck used to focus more on the infinite turn aspect but I've found it leads to a less enjoyable experience around the table.

As this is my first primer all comments, suggestions, etc. are welcome. If you have any questions I'm happy to respond and/or discuss. This is a deck I own and play in real life so I've been working on it for ages to make it strong while still being fun.

God-Eternal Kefnet

Understanding the commander's ability is crucial to this deck, so I'll emphasize here: When the first card is drawn each turn [note, this isn't just on your turn] you may reveal the card at that time [you can look at it first to choose to reveal or not] & if it's an instant or sorcery you can make a copy that you can cast for 2 colorless less at that time [yes even sorceries during an opponents turn] while the original will go to hand. Spells like Temporal Mastery , when cast from the top of the library using the copy from Kefnet's ability, the copy is exiled leaving the original in hand to Scroll Rack or cantrip back on top of the library.

Spell Recursion:

Call to Mind and/or Relearn , when put on top of the library, can be cast repeatedly to recur any instants or sorceries from the graveyard to hand.

Mystic Sanctuary can be bounced with the following to recur spells to the top of the library allowing copies to be cast with God-Eternal Kefnet : Kefnet the Mindful , Meloku the Clouded Mirror , and Tragic Lesson [bonus points for flavor on tragic lesson]

Mass draw:

Brainstorm Using Kefnet's ability cast a spell like brainstorm off the top of the library to draw three and put the original back on top netting 2 extra cards

Combining the following with Library of Leng will have a similar effect and give no max hand size: Frantic Search , Tragic Lesson , and Dream Cache . Non-instant/sorcery versions: Thought Courier , Teferi, Master of Time , Merfolk Looter

Tutors and their main uses:

Mystical Tutor : to find Brainstorm , any answer [e.g. Cyclonic Rift , or any of the "put cards back on top" cantrips to recast off kefnet for mass draw or tutors [see mass draw section for more details]

Trinket Mage : To find Expedition Map , Library of Leng , or mana rocks

Expedition Map : Mystic Sanctuary for meloku/kefnet the mindful wincons

Tolaria West : to find Mystic Sanctuary for Meloku the Clouded Mirror Kefnet the Mindful combo

Tribute Mage : to find Scroll Rack or mana rocks

Muddle the Mixture : to find Scroll Rack or Thassa's Oracle

Fabricate : to find Leveler , Expedition Map , Library of Leng , or Scroll Rack

Whir of Invention : to find Everflowing Chalice , Scroll Rack , Leveler , Library of Leng , or Expedition Map depending on combo pieces in hand

Tezzeret the Seeker : to find Scroll Rack , Everflowing Chalice , Library of Leng , or Expedition Map

Vedalken AEthermage : to find Laboratory Maniac , Thought Courier , or Meloku the Clouded Mirror

Infinite turns:

Maybeboarded for more casual: Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal + Grim Monolith Basalt Monolith + Staff of Domination =draw your whole deck Runechanter's Pike and commander damage with infinite turns is the alt wincon.

There's plenty of control to copy with kefnet and maintain the field... a few with counters to protect the wincons. There are a few tutors to help get the wincons. Any suggestions are welcome! Trying to keep the deck fun for everyone at the table but still securing a win.

Try not to go infinite turns without the wincons in hand to maintain friendships ;)
