I would definitely suggest at least 1 Ravaging Blaze and possibly a Molten Vortex or even Aggressive Mining in your MB. Aggressive Mining, while being one of the worst cards to come out in that set, would have a great home here. After getting sufficient lands into play, drop that, sac a land and draw 2 cards and keep up that card advantage, finding everything you need to kill your opponent. I play one in my Naya Burn Modern deck and it works wonders. +1

Would you mind checking out my Mardu Burn deck that I will be running at the SCG Open in Chicago this weekend? I am trying to get it as close to perfect as possible so all suggestions are welcome. Thanks! Great brew btw!

Here is my deck: Mardu Death Race 6000

@#27Seems easier to just run Outpost Siege instead and draw 2 cards every turn.

Yea I agree with Zamsonov outpost seige would work well. I think you are running a uncanny amount of lands. Maybe drop to 23.

ok, splash white for soulfire, use generator servant to drop the goggles turn 3. i like the idea of howling horde, use goggles to cast horde post combat, then cast shrapnel blast sacking the goggles for a whooping 30 damage

Magic Origins is replacing Magic 2015 as the core set. As such you won't be able to use Perilous Vault with Pyromancer's Goggles in standard. Same goes with Stoke the Flames

Like the idea, not too confident about how well this would do competitevly though. nonetheless, i still think it would be awesome if this could take off. And i don't think i saw anybody mention it but maybe 1-2 Avaricious Dragons? Also, I would say that Hordeling Outburst is a little clashy with Anger of the Gods? so maybe not 4 of each? just my opinions.

larryanders since m15 rotates out in october he will be able to play those cards for a while.

July 17, 2015 8:13 a.m.

Have you thought about maybe a green splash for Dragonlord Atarka? That would be a pretty emp finisher than can also nuke creatures or walkers.

Also a good thing to flood into. Just a thought.

Avaricious Dragon or Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker for all the draw/discard madness!

THS and M15 are going to rotate out so you have all the ORI stuff illegal or all of the THS and M15 stuff illegal. Besides the MM2 stuff is illgeal. Modern might do it when the new legally stuff happens but still... To get the codes i'm using change the "sort by" box to latest set.

Avaricious Dragon can help with late game gas...cool deck idea, +1

July 27, 2015 4:18 p.m.

Jimmy_Chinchila thanks. I like that dragon but I don't own any at the moment. I want to give it a shot some time though. Outpost Siege kind of fills the same role for me.

This deck seems far too slow for a burn deck. You have no 1 drops such as Monastery Swiftspear or Wild Slash. Don't overlook Abbot of Keral Keep. Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh  Flip isn't a bad option, cuz when it goes off it goes off but may interrupt what you're trying to accomplish. Outpost Siege, at least one, should be mainboarded. I saw a deck that ran only 4 copies of both Monastery Swiftspear and Abbot of Keral Keep as their creatures, 3 Pyromancer's Goggles and an array of burn spells. It went 6-3 at the SCG Open Chicago.

i really really really like where this is going. splashing black for Crackling Doom seems utterly fantastic, even against esper control.

do the goggles let you copy any spell with a red mana symbol? such as Crackling Doom, Dreadbore (for a modern deck that i run) etc?

July 28, 2015 10:24 a.m.

Tfthoresen- Yes Goggles let you copy any spell with a red mana symbol, so if you use it to cast Crackling Doom or Dreadbore you get to copy it...which is why this is awesome!

rochdalekilla9 this deck is not looking to win fast. It can occasionally with the right hand and cooperation from the opponent but typically you are looking to control the board early and then finish big after getting set up. It's not your typical burn strategy but burn spells are the main source of control and the win con. From my experience with Goggles so far I'd say you don't really gain an advantage until you use it twice. Using it three or more times is when it starts providing game winning advantage. For that reason I think it is better in a control deck than an aggro strategy but there is merit to both.

Tfthoresen thanks and yup black seems great here. I made the swap after FNM for a tournament on Saturday but ended up not being able to attend. Updated the list and I'll be trying it out tonight! The Goggles do work like you assume. That's why I find Steam Augury cast with Goggles so intriguing as it should net 4-5 cards at instant speed for 4 mana.

Just a note, Pyromancer's Goggles doesn't copy any spell with a red mana symbol, they copy any spell that is either an instant or sorcery and is a red spell, a counterexample to this is that this card would have no effect on Ghostfire

July 28, 2015 4:38 p.m.

kylarbandurzo- you are correct in saying Ghostfire would not be able to be copied. But no one would ever attempt to copy it because it is a terrible card! Lol...but thank you for clarifying!

B4ndana_P I'm still on this deck, was just giving some advice on what to run in red aggro on that thread.

Do you at any point feel like 25 lands is too many? maybe 22 to 23 is better? just wondering!
