Konda's Hatamoto and Inner-Chamber Guard aren't bad. I feel like you could cut the Kitsune Blademasters for one of these two.

CaptSillva, Konda's Hatamoto is only good if there is a Legendary out. Realistically, I'll only see Sensei Golden-Tail each game and she is not resilient outside of combat (really not resilient at all) and is a huge target for removal.
Inner-Chamber Guard has a similar problem, being great on defense but subpar elsewhere. Honor of the Pure, a new addition, mitigates this somewhat but not enough. I need to build a board state quickly and swing wide, and 0-1 power won't cut it racing my opponents deck.
Kitsune Blademaster may be overcosted by today's standards, but 2/2 First Strike isn't how you look at him. In combat with a creature he is a 3/3 First Strike, which is still relevant in offense and defense. Being the only Samurai with this ability makes the value stand out even more. He has earned his slot.

Have you tried Light from Within in place of honor of the pure? Flavor wise it fits perfectly, but mechanically it may be worth a 1-2 of inclusion.

i would recommend adding red i can see where you are going with this deck but there are a lot of other very good red cards that go very well with samurai. my samurai deck started out as tribal but later got push over to a kind of Kamigawa block deck. one amazing inclusion to this deck would be Godo, Bandit Warlord he lets you search for an equipment and even if you don't use that part you get another combat phase with all your samurai.

Quinnagin27 I have tried Red a lot with this tribe and in my experience, it actually slows the deck down. The flavor is certainly there and it's good for casual fun, but I think mono white is the most competitive way to build them for me and my current meta. I kind of hate that because Godo is really good along with Brothers Yamazaki, but it kind of becomes something different at that point. I rocked a Boros version for a while before deciding it wasn't quite what I wanted. Thanks for the input though, I'm always pumped to see other Samurai decks out there!

Callmegkill Light from Within just isn't quite fast enough even with the potential it provides for mid-late game. The trade off isn't worth IMO because you really don't want to get to mid-late game with a white weenie deck if you can help it. I like it in an EDH or more casual setting though, to be sure!

shadowhark1, I have worked harder on this deck than any other in my collection. I hope that one day Wizards will revisit the flavor of Kamigawa with the lessons they've learned since it's release.

thanks and you are right when i played it i was in a casual format and mine was more Equipment based. The red will slow the deck down even though the red samurais do very well they will slow you down. I agree with your mono white it helps the tribe more to be white then boros. I also love to see people with samurai decks they really are one of kind decks

As someone who really wants samurai to be good, I have to ask: what's the secret? I joined in on magic well after they debuted, but I happened upon them randomly, saw that most of them have really cool looking art, and wanted to use them in a deck. Bear in mind, I only ever play EDH. My play group decided EDH was best long ago since it's generally cheaper to play and focused more on making big plays as opposed quick and efficient wins. My main issue with the samurai is that most of them seem small and are overpriced mana-wise. I thought I had the solution once. I thought if gave them banding, then threw a Nemesis Mask or a Lure on one of the samurai in the band, I could get tons of bushido triggers from all the declared blockers. After reading rule 509.5c, however, that's not actually how that works. My current line of thought on the matter is to use tons of anthems and damage amp; cards like Collective Blessing or Gratuitous Violence
In short, do you have any ideas for or advice on a samurai EDH deck?

darmpark the best thing i can give you about samurai for edh is either make it boros color commander or Naya color commander I dont really play commander so idk which one would be the best but i would build it around Isao, Enlightened Bushi he is the only green samurai but is best for the tribe. i really recommend Naya colors tho because green will help you ramp because samurai are high costing cards if your willing i would like to collaborate with you on making one if your willing! ive been looking to make an EDH deck but idk where to start and i think this would help me

Yep, samurai are tricky in EDH. You need a lot of support cards to make it work, as well as support creatures. I agree going with a non-samurai commander to grant access to a wider variety of the tribe.
They are generally overcosted by todays standard so you need to really lean on the Bushido mechanic if you want them to succeed in combat.
I dont really play EDH, and my one deck is a slightly modified Pre-Con. I think you have to be really creative with the deck list to make them effective though outside of white weenie.

The only thing that I feel is missing is card draw. I’ve been playing only for 2 months, so I’m not really an expert, but Vanquisher’s banner? I know it’s high on the curve, but in the late game, this could come in handy.

Have you ever thought of adding a Kusari-Gama to the deck? I find it really synergizes with bushido even if it is a late stage card.

Very cool deck, and I am glad you found some success at FNM with it.

Interesting deck. It's hard for me to see a clear path to victory, so must be a very smart player.

It’s just a white weenie deck but it is able to pull off wins against more expensive decks. It’s just full of flavor and fun.

This is a great deck. I was wondering if I could use this deck as a model for my own samurai deck?

bassgdae I would love to run him and Nykthos makes it more plausible. Monument would be good if I relied on a higher curve. Nagao is only a four drop and Takeno is in there basically doing what Konda would, being a bomb. Takeno has immediate impact however, as he anthems my Samurai for that last swing.
If you were to put Konda in same situation, Takeno is better. Now, Konda of course is singularly more powerful but the cost is one turn slower and he in of himself is unlikely to save a game going that long.
The Monument would be great if it were faster. What I mean is, it is not a creature and only reduces colorless by 1. It was designed more for its token trigger, which is nice. However, running two 1cmc drops and three 2cmc, I am swarming the board faster than it would for me.
While it would provide benefits it's hard to justify making room for something with minimal early game impact. Kinda I could probably split a 1 of with Takeno and still have an effective deck. Monument I'm not so sure.
Thanks for the comments and suggestions!
