I went for the Sphinx's Disciple over the Pain Seer to get a prescience in the air, and it can be swapped out with/for a Stain the Mind with the Disciple of Deceit .

ah. i figured you might be afraid of taking worst fears cmc to the face lol.

i was going to make Bw control after rotation but i really like what you did with the blue. Think im going to go blue/black control now.

That too - but I ended up pulling worst fears in an effort to get more similar casting cost cards in the deck to utilize the disciple a little more. also replaced some of the temples with the M15 dual-lands. It was just getting too slow. Swapped out Hero's downfall for Gild (also for disciple usage) and put in Oracle's Insights (furthering the 4 cmc) and allowing a "safe" tapping avenue.

I'd sideboard an extra 2 [Negate] and 4 [silence the believers] in case you run into a red direct damge deck or a white voltron deck. Might make you win a few more tournament games.

Pulled the Sphinx's Disciple for the Prophet of Kruphix . It just works the mechanic so much better.

swapped the Negate for Dissolve . The extra mana doesn't seem to be an issue, scry is nice, and it can counter creatures I don't want to see enter the field.

So my initial thoughts were that this deck wasn't going to be good, but after playtesting it, the disciple with card synergy into any card you need is pretty awesome. Plus all the cards which allow for easy tapping for the inspired guys was a nice bonus. I almost never run into a game I've playtested where you get past turn 5 without the ability to turn any creature into gold. I play tested it like 10 times, almost every time by turn 7 I'd have the game completely in control. There are weaknesses to direct damage, but every deck has some weakness.

For those of you that are budget conscious; run 6 swamp, 5 forest, 5 islands, and 4 evolving wilds. The price comes in at about $11.

I love this deck! I going to build it and take it to FNM. One Suggestion, take out 3 disciple of deceit, add in Vraska the Unseen , Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver and another aura that lets you tap. Since this deck generates any mana color with the gold, you can basically play the cards exiled with ashiok, Vraska is their just for a removal, if youre on a budget take out the non basic lands, add 1 more swamp, one more aura that taps, and another crature that you can get out early that poses a threat.

I also forgot, add in maybe two Nighthowlers, with all that removal of creatures you could have a huge night howler to finish of the late game, or maybe even bestow it to the tromper and save the mana for crypsis so you can swing for huge damage that turn.

BTW, I dont know, but I think there are more powerful creatures than the Tromper for four mana, but I dont know what to put in instead, maybe 2 trompers and 2 of something else.

Looking at the sideboard I would take out In Garruk's Wake it's just not great way too much mana for a board wipe. Really like the deck though!

PK_47, the point of the disciple it seems was to help search your deck for what you want, you put a karametra's favor on him, tap him for mana and get to search your library for anything you need. If you look everything costs 2, 4, or 5 mana, so if you need a kiora's follower or karametra's favor discard a 2 cost, discard a 4 cost for a macar, and a 5 cost for a prophet of kruphix. Everytime I playtested it, it was one of the best mechanics in the deck.

Nagaram Yeah, I agree. I tossed in Worst Fears
and In Garruk's Wake
just because I new I would be able to cast them since the plan is to be swimming in gold like Scrooge McDuck. I am more than will to swap them out, and should, I know. I just get the main deck going, and I lose interest in developing a good sideboard.
Anyone have some great suggestions for that side?

So here's a thought: How about Shrapnel Blast ? I think I'll sideboard it at the very least. I have all the mana I need if the deck is working right. And maybe an enchantment removal. Whats a good 2 or 4 cmc enchantment removal?
August 25, 2014 12:56 p.m.
PK_47 don't forget that King Macar, the Gold-Cursed and Gild exiles, therefore the Nighthowler could be less than stellar in this deck.

Try out Springleaf drum and verdent Haven/market Festival.
August 25, 2014 11:23 p.m.
Springleaf Drum would work for triggering off the inspired, but I don't know what I would take out. Verdant Haven and Market Festival don't really work in this deck. I don't really need that much extra mana. Market Festival is at least the same casting cost as alot of my other cards and would work with the Disciple of Deceit , but again. I'm not entirely certain what I would remove.

Why did you add in shrapnel blast, you run no artifacts. Just wondering.
August 30, 2014 8:20 a.m.
Oh wait, never mind, just read king macars ability again, to op man, if you come to my LGS, you'll see me playing it. :)

Also, this really isn't a budget tip, but if you wanted to take this to a new level, kind of, you could add in 3 Courser of Kruphix, to add more mana ramp because this deck needs it. You could also add in spring leaf drum in instead, triggers inspired and taps for any mana. I would also like to suggest early creatures on the board. Maybe add in three or two 2 drop creatures that bring something to the table.
