Updated, to splash white for just a few cards. Vigilance with the
Mage-Ring Responder
is too crazy, so I'm trying to make this three colored, even if it's against my better judgement. Three colored land isn't my best point, so any tips on making the land base more solid would be great. Thank!
Mage-Ring Responder
is a dumb card, and seems super gimmicky so it's right up my alley.
Use the untap effects of various cards, and get around having to pay to untap the golem. Every time it attacks, it's going to kill just about any creature in standard that isn't Dragonlord Atarka or something with hexproof.
It takes a little bit to get going, but if it makes it to the middle or late game, the deck tends to go off pretty well. Any advice on how to make this more efficient would be greatly appreciated.
Deck Tech:
Elvish Mystic: In green, so mana-ramp. The good stuff in this deck is a lot of mana, so everything that helps get there is important.
Sylvan Caryatid: Great early game to stall out aggro, a good wall, and mana-ramp. This deck is standard and runs green, so therefore it runs Sylvan Caryatid.
Kiora's Follower: This guy can not only help mana-ramp, but he also can untap The Golem.
Bounding Krasis: A flash 3/3 is pretty decent, but his tap and untap ability can be utilized both offensively and defensively. Something blocking your Golem?? Tap it. Need to untap your Golem? Krasis has your back. Plus, if necessary, with the mana ramping a turn two 3/3 can be a good early game threat if necessary.
Prophet of Kruphix: This babe pretty much keeps your Golem fueled and ready to go at all times. She doesn't have the greatest front or back for a five drop, but she keeps the rest of the deck going. She draws removal attention, and if she isn't answered, your Golem is going to keep wiping the opponent's creatures and their life.
Sagu Mauler
: An alternate threat, and the morph is handy early game. Hexproof trample 6/6 is an instant threat that can survive most creature battles.
Mage-Ring Responder
: The Golem. Dude's a tank, and with the deck helping him out, can stay a constant threat.
Non Creature Spells:
Kiora, the Crashing Wave: If we're in blue/green, why not run her? She's kick ass.
AEtherspouts: Good mass removal if necessary, and can really put a wrench in some people's strategies.
Valorous Stance: Cheap removal for the big threats, and it can also double as some protection for your creatures.
Monastery Siege: Mainly to be played for the card draw effect, but it doesn't hurt to have the Dragons choice as an option.
Triton Tactics: All around utility card. This can help keep your creatures alive, it can help untap your mana-rampers for more mana, and it can untap The Golem.
Refocus
: Draws cards, or can untap your Golem or another creature if needed.
Brave the Sands: Vigilance is huge with your Golem, and it even allows it to block multiple attacks. This card is a big win-combo with The Golem.
