To start, this deck is based around getting 3 cmc creatures on the battlefield and then getting rid of them by either sacrificing them to Woe Strider, Westvale Abbey
, or even just combat tricks where you can chump with something like Elvish Visionary or Murderous Rider to prevent unwanted damage and if they die you have Zulaport Cutthroat, Woe Strider, Midnight Reaper, and Liliana, Heretical Healer
that can reap you great benefits by gaining you life, draining theirs, scrying so you can predict what you'll do next turn, or even transforming Liliana, Heretical Healer
into Liliana, Defiant Necromancer
that can disrupt the opponents hand with her +2 and her -X can actually bring back any creature from this deck thats in your graveyard so its like you lost nothing, oh and Liliana, Heretical Healer
makes a 2/2 zombie for you so you now have another chump blocker if you don't want to take away her loyalty to reanimate. The other features of this deck includes some filtering, card advantage, hand disruption, and removal, for filtering you have Woe Strider to help you scry but with your creatures that you can sac to Woe Strider you get numerous scry's. Next for card advantage this deck runs three Midnight Reapers so you can replace your creatures dying with card advantage at the cost of 1 life each time then a playset of Elvish Visionary was put in just so you get a card to replace itself then using it as a chump blocker or sac outlet for more value. The next card could be argued for board value rather than card advantage but I digress, Collected Company is an amazing card in this deck mainly because for four mana this card has the potential to put six mana worth of creatures on the field and as it states that you can pick only up to two creatures and they have to be cmc 3 or less, every creature in this deck is cmc 3 or less (note that you can cast it on the opponents turn so you have a better chance against control decks). The issue is whiffing, it is a small chance given the mass of creatures in this deck comparatively to the non-creature spells and lands it is more likely you would pull at least one creature and have it go directly onto the field. Now to the removal, its simple, just kill everything on their board when you can because that leaves an open path for you to plow through with your creatures. A star in this deck is Murderous Rider, this zombie knight is both a removal spell for both planeswalkers and creatures and gets a trigger for Collected Company also if you don't sac it then you simply can gain your life back with it. Another kill spell to mention is the three Fatal Push's that can kill most of the time a 4 cmc creature because Gilded Goose can easily sac that food for the revolt trigger or you can do other things like sac creatures or minus your planeswalkers to death that turn which idk why you'd want to do that but desperate times can call for desperate measures. The next part of this deck is the hand disruption, it consists of three cards, Liliana, Defiant Necromancer
, Plaguecrafter, and Thoughtseize. Liliana, Defiant Necromancer
each turn shaves a card from their hand to which you may be right, you discarding could be bad but remember your graveyard becomes your hand when you get Liliana flipped. Plaguecrafter doesn't always cause hand disruption but even if it doesn't it means that this card got rid or a creature or planeswalker that was giving us a problem. Thoughtseize is the mvp of discard for this entire format because turn one you get any nonland card from your opponent's hand for just one black mana and two life.
