Thinking of dropping the Nylea's for 1x Swamp and 1x Forrest. Nylea is nice to give a huge ScOoze trample but thats about it really.... and I do not typically get mana screwed due to all the ramp, but it could happen.....

Please playtest!

May not look like much synergy but its there for sure! Have had multiple turn 6 wins with a 36/36 Trample Kalonian Hydra and a 12/12 ScOoze.

I think at this point the only major change that would be of immediate benefit would be the addition of Thoughtseize.

As always, Please playtest! any comments feedback suggestions much appreciated!

20 lands is ridiculously low. I would suggest dropping 2 scavengers, you only want 1 out. and drop a lotleth too. 23 lands is way more doable.

I hear what your saying, and have thought and tested with this theory. The reason it is still running a 20/40 split is with a CMC of 2.75, Caryatid's and tonnes of duals it does fly and typically from play testing and FNM's if 4 land hit the board, as long as there is at least one swamp in the mix I am normally fine.

But yes, when I get a bad draw, it is bad..... May play around with the land more. Thanks for the comment!

+1 for hydras

Honestly I would put Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord back in. Maybe add more Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx in place of Mutavault and run a few Solidarity of Heroes

I run a similar deck at the moment Jarad, Hydra Lord. It may help you out in terms of sideboard

Thanks Oldneckbeard!

I had 2x Jarad in there, but he was not seeing play, and when he did, he was not making a difference. He is still in the "Maybe" section. I can still see this deck seeing a lot of change before fall rotation, at which point I may still keep it and run it modern with obviously some very major changes to meet the format :)

+1 for a really good deck!If you want to make your opponent cry you can add a few Contagion Clasp s to double your double that is being double by a double. That way on turn 6 you can have the Kalonian Hydra at a 200/200 creature with trample. this actually helps with aggro decks that get big creatures out fast. If that happens a 40/40 might not be enough..... and it is fun to see your opponent cry :)

Thanks!, In the fall when Standard rotates, this will be geared for a Modern deck, at which point Contagion Clasp Will most definitely be a major option!

June 20, 2014 8:31 a.m.

Oh, Sorry, didn't see the standard part. but in that case Contagion Engine Is also a good card to add. As well as Doubling Season .

xGhostx says... #12

hahaha yeah neither are currently in Standard Block. The Modern build of this deck has 3x Doubling Season in it for obvious reasons lol. I picked them up and have been holding on them for the Fall when this beast is no longer Standard legal.

Thanks!

Lots of fun, I was in a dominant place by turn 6 with 2 mana dorks and 2 corpsejacks, which means that my mistcutter came in with 20 1/1 counters. in my hand was 3 bioshifts, another mistcutter, and garruk. The corpsejacks are a huge synergy in this deck. turn 7 would have resulted in me playing garruk and the mistcutter (paying 1 for the counters) and bioshifting like a mad man. Nice Deck!

I would Bioshift to the SB. I don't think that it's applications are wide enough to be very effective in the first game. If you anticipate that your opponent is going to side in more removal after the first game, then side them in. I would also drop Vraska the Unseen , I don't feel like she fits what your deck is trying to do. I would put Experiment One back in and maybe even mainboard the Thoughtseize .

Other than that, tune it to your meta and just keep playing it to see what works and what doesn't.

Good luck!

Maybe instead of Slitherhead you can abuse things like Sedge Scorpion or another 1/1 Deathtouch weenie to keep your opponent from attacking early game.

Also Asceticism has proven pretty valuable in my hydra deck to keep things nice and safe. The regen is also nice as well.

xGhostx says... #21

Thanks guys! I was thinking the same for the bioshifts, I feel they might just be overkill for what the deck can already do easily enough on its own.

Vraska the Unseen is there as a permanent Hero's Downfall thats about it. Drop her, -3 her to deal with an immediate issue, then keep +1'ing her so she sticks around.

So here is what I am thinking, Move the 3x Bioshift to Sideboard, drop the 3x Hero's Downfall from sideboard. Add back 3x Experiment One or 3x Scavenging Ooze the Ooze has great synergy with Lotleth Troll

The other option would be replace the 3x Bioshift for 3x Forced Adaptation

Thoughts?

Mosswort Bridge can be good for hydras too, You can usually trigger it every game, It helps to dig through your deck some more for key cards and more mana! Can't go wrong there.

June 20, 2014 1:07 p.m.

xGhostx says... #23

Thanks Caligula I agree, at this point it is Standard Legal and thats what my card shop plays for FNM. Come the fall when Standard block rotates, this deck will be broken, at which point rather then dismantling it, I will cycle it to Modern and make it 10x more disgusting.

Mosswort Bridge will be making the cut come the switch to Modern :)

I think you should take out some slither heads for lands because 20 doesn't seem doable

June 20, 2014 1:13 p.m.

Caligula says... #25

Maybe if you dropped Lotleth Troll and Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord (as they fare better in dredge decks) you could add in a few more rampers (Arbor Elf /Utopia Sprawl ) you could abuse Doubling Chant effectively or even Genesis Wave for a mass spawning.
