Yeah even when it runs slow, you typically have lethal dealing threats that need to be addressed instantly by turn 6 or so.

So i built your deck and took it to a standard tourny last night. Loved it played out so well. Only thing i had issues with was Mistcutter Hydra cant be Bioshift ed. Something i didn't realize till it was to late and went 1-3. Have you thought about siding them and just keeping some more removal main board?

Bnon Yeah old Garruk will be cycled for New when the time comes.

zaden Have thought about it, but typically, I will Bioshift from a Kalonian Hydra to something that seems like a minimal threat, like a Lotleth Troll or hell have even done it to an attacking Elvish Mystic

99/100 times when declaring blockers, your opponent is going to make the Kalonian the primary blocking target to prevent as much trample as possible. When this happens, simply Bioshift off the Kalonian on to anything that was not declared a blocker and swing lethal. I agree that it would be massive amounts better if you could Bioshift onto/off of a Mistcutter Hydra but that would require Bioshift being Mono-Green or Mistcutter being far less awesome.......

Made some more changes, Tried to make this work in M15, No dice..... Back to closer to the original build, and dropped some heavy drops to get back to being very aggro.

Going to continue to run this at FNM until Rotation hits as I cannot for the life of me, find something else to play that is nearly as enjoyable as this.

Qualified for Provincial GTP qualifier with this deck. Will be running the tournament Aug 16th and 17th. With this core build. Any suggestions on changes before then are greatly appreciated.

I think Golgari Charm sideboard brings an answer to many situations; protects your Hydras, great vs aggro/tokens/constellation.

I haven't tried it and it might start slow, but Gyre Sage could get out of hand in a deck like this, and with mana sinks like Mistcutter Hydra and Nylea you can't have enough mana ;)

Whenever I read Sedge Scorpion , I don't get way people forget about Wasteland Viper . It's strictly better, and the Bloodrush for G.... It could even replace Bioshift in situations when Kalonian Hydra gets blocked. Just bloodrush this little guy on him, and you only lose 1 damage for every blocker, plus you have the extra 1 dmg from the viper! Not only do you keep your Hydra strong, you kill the blockers at the same time and most of the times you only lose 1 or 2 points of damage. Best thing, Bloodrush is an ability so it's much harder to counter. While we're on deathtouch, Bow of Nylea could also have some value here.

Good luck with youur GTP qualifier!

Thanks for the feedback Souljacker

Golgari Charm has been in the mix for a while and just cannot pull the trigger on anything for a straight swap.

As for Gyre Sage I did try a short lived stint with Evolve effect creatures, Experiment One and the likes, the problem was that they would reach 4/4's or 5/5's and just plateau.

Bioshift has been dropped for Solidarity of Heroes as I found myself to many times holding a Bioshift when the only thing worth targeting was a pro-Blue Mistcutter Hydra Solidarity just makes more sense.

As for the Deathtouch blockers, this is also something I have been considering. May SB in the Wasteland Viper at FNM this week to see how it rolls.

Thanks!

Well I don't know your meta and what cards you sideboard in the least, but with 5 different types of removal I think one of them can go in favor of Golgari Charm .

Is it a bad thing to have a 4/4 or 5/5 for 1G and being able to tap for GGG(G)?

Deathtouch on tramplers is great to push through damage, good luck with trying it out!

Heavy Control and Heavy Removal. Very Aggro.

I did not say that Gyre Sage was a bad choice, at this time I think the only thing I could swap would be a straight 3 for 3 trade off with the ScOoze's

I might pick up 3 sages today and run it this Friday to see how it plays. It was a very solid suggestion. Thanks!

For Golgari Charm I would just rather have an Abrupt Decay or Putrefy in my hand in almost any situation that I see on a regular basis.

APPLE01DOJ Not sure what I would cycle for benefit.....

Dropped 3x Scavenging Ooze for 3x Gyre Sage

Thanks for the idea Souljacker!

I'm not sold on the ScOoze replacement, kinda curious to see how it does. Awaiting your results! I would drop Solidarity of Heroes and run both if it was me.

I would drop a copy of Nylea and a copy of Vraska to run 2x Desecration Demon or drop 2x Devour Flesh from your SB. Demon can still take care of Blood Baron of Vizkopa plus so can like half your creatures. If they have a god online, they're not going to sac it to Devour Flesh anyway. ....Not too sure what other creatures you would need Devour Flesh for?

Speaking of, with all that removal on the SB, u may want to taylor some of it. Dark Betrayal will help u out immensely in the Mono Black Devotion & Aggro match ups.

I will let you know how it pans out.

Solidarity is a must, it wins games. Big Hydra's with a Corpsejack Menace in play and Nylea, God of the Hunt for Trample to all. Followed by a Solidarity of Heroes to double counter stack then double again swinging for well beyond lethal.

I could drop a single Vraska the Unseen as she is essentially nothing more then a permanent kill spell, Nylea is very beneficial she needs to be a 2 of.

Devour Flesh is SB'd for instances that I need quick lifegain, using this over a Predator's Rapport because its a little more versatile for the most part, not really for enemy removal, but it can be used for that as well :)

HHHmm considered Courser of Kruphix he provides some life gain and sometimes card advantage.

Another possibility is Life's Legacy if you use it mainly for yourself. Personally I would run Whip of Erebos if I needed strictly life gain though.

August 6, 2014 3:32 p.m.

xGhostx says... #17

I have been throwing the idea of Courser around for a while now. The major issue is his Price tag at the moment. I understand he is a great card and works with many builds, including this one. But I am not ready to drop a $50-$60 for a playset lol

Life's Legacy could work to even out bad draws. I originally had Garruk, Caller of Beasts in for that but he was to high costing to consistently see play. I think that would be the issue with the Whip as well. Come turns 4-6 there is alot more I would rather do with BB2 then a whip..... Although it may get a trial run this Friday to see what happens.

well they're about 9.00 right now which is pretty much as cheap as it'll get. I think they've been worth it.

My local shops are selling at $15-$20 (Canadian) Demand is high here for them and supply is limited. People that have them are holding them.

APPLE01DOJ says... #20

I bought mine for 17. Then the clash pack came out and knocked him down a little. Great card but yea u could probably trade for them instead of buying them. 2 is all this deck would need.

Picked up the Gyre Sage 's and on the fly for testing dropped the 4x Elvish Mystic 's added the 3 Sages and a 4th Putrefy

It did slow the Agrro game down a bit in turns 1-3 but really beefed up mid-range / late game. Only tested 4 games (3-1 vs Janky BUG) but looked to work. Will test more tomorrow and make a final decision on Elvish Mystic or Scavenging Ooze

Souljacker says... #22

Good stuff! I picked up some Gyre Sage 's as well but haven't had the chance to properly test them, so thank you for your feedback on them.

I'd think with heavy control in your meta Golgari Charm would save your ass in a lot of situations, but if you feel it doesn't then it just means you have a problem less to worry about :)

Let me know how FNM goes!

August 7, 2014 6:59 a.m.

xGhostx says... #23

After further testing, Dropped Gyre Sage to bring back Elvish Mystic Moved 2x Vraska the Unseen to the SB (she is really only a PW killer anyway) and dropped 1x Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord for 3x Golgari Charm

Will test this build at FNM tomorrow and may make further changes before GameDay on Sat/Sun.

After that 1 more week of final tweeks and mods before GPT next Saturday.

As always, please PLEASE playtest and comment. ANY feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks All!

Dropped the Second Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord to run 4x Kalonian Hydra not sure if thats a final change or not. Jarad is there for a wincon in case I am unable to attack for one reason or another, and has won games, I just see more benefit in the 4th Kalonian with the current build.

I think 3x Charm is too many, Would swap at least 1 charm for 1 Vraska.
