UPDATED FOR ELDRITCH MOON (EMN)Bigish changes
After a bit of indecion about the majour game plan and direction for the deck I have chosen to push for a more creature heavy strategy, to make use of
Decimator of the Provinces
and Westvale Abbey
. A few small fidly card number changes have been made to push out creatures earlier and help the deck curve smoother and have more to do.
The decks real big goal and direction is to ramp out
Mindwrack Demon
s and
Ishkanah, Grafwidow
by turn 4/5, then utilize the number of in play creatures to flip westvale or drop a devistator by emerging it from a demon for 5 cmc then swinging for lethal.
IDEAL CASTS ON CURVE
Turn one is going to be used getting the first card type in grave, be it Evolving Wild, Traverse the Ulvenwald or
Terrarion
, which can be cracked the next turn to replace the card and put the artifact in grave without actually spending any mana.
Turn two is getting some creatures going, Grim Flayer,
Obsessive Skinner
and especially Deathcap Cultivator are great cards with long term benefits.
Turn three depends on the turn two play, but the majour goal is to get a
Mindwrack Demon
into play, either with Eldritch Evolution or Deathcap Cultivator. If a Grim Flayer was played and can be sacced to an Eldritch Evolution, try to attack with it first and use the pseudo scry ability then sacrifice it second main phase.
Turn four and five you should be trying to get an
Ishkanah, Grafwidow
into play, if not, try to get more 2 drops on board. If delirium wasn't activated last turn by a
Mindwrack Demon
try getting it this turn with cards like Grapple with the Past. At the same time try to get either a Westvale Abbey
or a
Decimator of the Provinces
into hand, either with Grapple with the Past or Traverse the Ulvenwald.
Past this, you should be in a decent position for either of these win conditions, emerge the
Decimator of the Provinces
from a
Mindwrack Demon
and swing with the now 3/4 ishkanah tokens and any now 6/6 and 4/3 Grim Flayers and Deathcap Cultivators. All of which have trample.
Or sacrifice the ishkanah tokens to Westvale Abbey
along side two other creatures to flip westvale.
If none of this is doable, just try to turtle up with
Obsessive Skinner
s and
Mindwrack Demon
s, eat up small creatures with blockers and pick of creatures that are to big with removal. At this point it's just a game of waiting out the board stalls and chipping away damage wherever possible.
