I don't like the one of for lifebane, he is a sb card, I would say use another desecration demon or another Kalonian hydra in its place

@Magiclover318: You are correct. The deck is in the middle of a tiny shift from last weeks FNM where I ran two MB. I am in the process of replacing both but currently haven't decided on what to replace him with. I would like to put in a fourth Desecration Demon but currently only own three. Hopefully I can pick up a fourth before this weekend. Thank you for the input though.

Yeah definitely :D I know I just played against a deck like this and stomped it haha. I was running mono black, you can check it out here

Yes but we like this deck because its more creative than a mono black deck

Like the deck, enjoying the "Screw everything popular" attitude its got. Might see it having trouble with early game shenanigans but hey, what can you do-o.
Thumbs up and +1

I'd add Whip of Erebos . Returning hydra is amazing and lifelink can make a difference.

Cool deck, been meaning to build a Golgari deck and this gives me some ideas.
Have you considered adding a couple Slitherhead ? It combos wonderfully with Lotleth Troll .
On turn 2: discard Slitherhead, troll gets +1/1. Scavenge Slitherhead for ZERO, troll gets another +1/1. Troll becomes a 4/3.

@ SwampMcGee: I have thought about adding in Slitherhead but scavenge is not what this deck is build around. Having Scavenge in a deck that lets Scavenging Ooze shine is very counterproductive and the reason a lot of Golgari decks fail.

How does Vraska the Unseen do for you? I feel with all the planeswalker hate in Standard right now she would have a hard time. Pithing Needle , Dreadbore , Hero's Downfall . On the other hand it only takes 2 turns to get her to 7 and you can make her assassins unblockable with Rogue's Passage . Regardless, if you feel she underwhelms you Corpsejack Menace may not be a bad alternative. He's a 4/4 for 4 and doubles all of the counters your deck makes. Him plus Kalonian Hydra is pretty wicked. There's not anything else I would consider dropping for it though.

Dreg Mangler ? Where's Dreg Mangler ? I would cut Vraska and Golgari Charm for it, just my opinion. Even if scavenge isn't for you, it's still occasionally useful and Dreg Mangler is such as boss that he's good without scavenge.
P.S. I agree. Golgari is the hidden gem of standard. If only I had enough money for 4 Desecration Demon ...

Golgari Charm is one of the strongest instants in standard. Destroys Detention Sphere + Chained to the Rocks , Answer Master of Waves and his tokens. Can flip a Supreme Verdict or Anger of the Gods to your favor.
Dreg Mangler is a decent beat down tool, but in the current meta I think it's just a weaker Mistcutter Hydra which is still only SB material.
Vraska the Unseen is the answer to board stalls, has an achievable win-con, and will often be bait for Downfalls and even Pithing Needle s that people side in for!

What about Evolving Wilds it could help with mana fixing and be food for Deathrite Shaman .

i like everything except Kalonian Hydra . Its a great card, but just too much of a target for removal...Vastwood Hydra is not as great, but its either they let you keep a huge creature, or kill it letting you divide its counters, just a thought. There are other good creatures or more removal i think could take its place.
Also, Is 4 Grisly Salvage and 4 Deathrite Shaman really necessary as well? I'm curious more than i am doubtful.

4 Grisly Salvage provides targets for the Deathrite Shaman , it is a big necessity. You take their life away, or you gain life and extra mana is always nice.

@acousticcancer: There are many games where Kalonian Hydra
does nothing more than absorb a Hero's Downfall
. There are other games where I cast it, and they scoop. Either way, I am not scared of them killing creatures because my creatures have a second life in the graveyard thanks to ScOoze and DRS. Magiclover318 is correct about the Grisly Salvage
and Deathrite Shaman
. The Graveyard is an extension of my hand, so Grisly Salvage
acts as a way to gain card advantage and also to dig for threats; even land sometimes.

ahhh man, u shoulda wiped Esper no problem, stupid time constraints!
One of my favorite interactions, is using Rogue's Passage to allow Kalonian Hydra to be able to attack safely when he would trade. Doubling the board, and changing things in your favor instantly.
