This is a loam-type pauper deck I have been working on.
This is a grindy control deck that does well versus other control strategies.
Our main card advantage engine is Barren Moor
+
Tilling Treefolk
and is used to abuse Raven's Crime.
By turn 5 you can usually shoot off Raven's Crime 3 or 4 times and be set to do it some more on the following turn.
Disarm the opponent and kill with a
Blastoderm
.
General Tips
Raven's Crime doesn't care about Counterspell.
Prioritize building mana over for stronger
Crypt Rats
or chain of Raven's Crime.
Playing
Tilling Treefolk
and returning 2 cycling lands is mad value. He often looks like a Mulldrifter or
Augur of Skulls
.
In general, use Raven's Crime versus control and Cycle in more aggressive matches or if you need to draw removal or a threat.
Mortuary Mire
works overtime with Cycling lands, and provides an uncounterable way to return creatures to our hand.
Golgari Rot Farm lets us replay lands like
Mortuary Mire
for that sweet extra value, and it helps us from flooding with mana. We can bounce an extra forest and pitch it to Retrace.
Chainer's Edict
, Innocent Blood, and
Crypt Rats
help control the board while we empty our opponents hand.
Satyr Wayfinder finds a useful land and mills our library to find a Raven's Crime.
Once the opponents hand has been destroyed,
Syphon Life
becomes the Retrace card of choice.
I feel like this deck has serious potential but the number of possible lines makes it tricky to pilot.
Mulligan Instructions Show
You want to start with at least one mana source.
Often times your starting hand will seem flooded due to running 27 lands, but Cycling on Barren Moor and Tranquil Thicket helps to alleviate this.
I will usually keep a 5-6 lander if I have a Cycling land or a Raven's Crime.
Thanks for checking my deck out. Any suggestions or comments would be sweet.
