So this deck is based on Varolz, the Scar-Striped. I've always loved the "scavenge" ability from Return to Ravnica, but they're pretty much always overpriced mana-wise. However, because varolz grants creature cards in my graveyard scavenge equal to their mana costs, cards like Death's Shadow grant my weenies lots of counters!
So far, this deck is in the beta stages. However, I have a few categories for the cards I include. The first category involves cards I plop directly into my graveyard for the scavenge ability. These are, respectively:
Death's Shadow
Eater of Days
Phyrexian Soulgorger.
Next, I have cards that put cards into my graveyard, with the occasional bonus of a card in my hand. These are:
Grisly Salvage
Satyr Wayfinder
Lotleth Troll.
Finally, I have weenies to build up, like:
Satyr Wayfinder
Lotleth Troll
Skarrgan Pit-Skulk
Varolz, the Scar-Striped
Alright, now I need some help on this deck. I am relatively new to modern, and I've heard that decks go fast. Ideally, this deck would go off on turn 4. However, things don't always go as planned, and I'm wondering if I need to include some alternative pathways to victory. I fear I have an overreliance on Varolz, the Scar-Striped; without him, this deck is basically null. Incidentally, I wonder if there are other ways to discard creatures from my hand, aside from Lotleth Troll. Finally, should I cut
Nissa's Revelation
? It could be powerful late-game, but ideally the game wouldn't last that long.
Thanks for all your help, and I really appreciate you taking the time to checkout this deck.
