-2 Xenagos, The Reveler and maybe +2 Domri Rade and maybe some Garruk, Caller of Beasts :) Just overall better card's for Jund and R/G in general, I would personally run all 3, but Xenagos, The Reveler seem's the most useless in the deck :) If you don't wanna run Garruk, run Domri for sure.

Xenagos, The Reveler has been winning games for me. He's either pumping out attackers/blockers every turn, or he's ramping up for multiple big guys. His -6 isn't hard to hit either. When I've got, for instance, both a Desecration Demon and a Scavenging Ooze , the opponent now has to make a decision as to whether or not they will focus my big guys, or my potential with Xenagos, The Reveler . I've been playing him for about 3 months now and never had a situation where I wish I didn't have him.
Domri Rade doesn't really work here, as constant creatures attacking isn't the general strategy like it is in Gruul. I'm slightly slower in that I don't just pump out guys right and left. You'll notice I don't run anything higher than 4 CMC, but I still try to take my time and try to make sure I'm in a good situation via my removal before I sort of go "all in". If I end up going "all in" and I'm not ready for it, I'm basically throwing away the game with this deck. In fact, Domri Rade 's -2 could actually get me in trouble if I'm not careful. I run 18 creatures as opposed to Gruul's common 26, so every creature counts as my next few draws could be land or removal. My Jund midrange runs a similar strategy of big guys winning, but at a bit different pace.
The same can basically be said of Garruk, Caller of Beasts in my opinion. I actually used to run Garruk, Caller of Beasts , but I just couldn't justify how little he did in my deck for a 6 drop.
Let me know your thoughts! :)

Nice I really Like the deck I might take a jab at jund. Check out my 4 color STD deck. It won a few FNM's (tell me what you think). everything but red...... Scary.

i like the deck alot tho i feel that Boon Satyr and Polukranos, World Eater can be better replaced with red creatures like Stormbreath Dragon since red is the shared color between Mogis, God of Slaughter and Xenagos, God of Revels . also no Domri Rade ? maaaabey Ember Swallower

I like Polukranos, World Eater because of his built in removal. Personally, I think Stormbreath Dragon will die down this set and be replaced with Flame-Wreathed Phoenix . But I guess we'll just have to see. Still considering Domri Rade but haven't made the decision on him yet.

I would replace Courser of Kruphix with Fanatic of Xenagos . It's more aggressive and puts more pressure on the opponent.

i just replaced Fanatic of Xenagos with Courser of Kruphix yesterday. The combo between Courser of Kruphix and Domri Rade is much better than what you'll get from Fanatic of Xenagos .

It's possible to get a turn 3 win with Savageborn Hydra and lots of pump spells. I wouldn't recommend it due to how unlikely it is. Turn 1: Forest + Elvish Mystic Turn 2: Mountain + Savageborn Hydra (Mabye play some Burning-Tree Emissary s if you get them) Turn 3: Mountain + Phytoburst , attack with hydra, bloodrush Ghor-Clan Rampager for lethal.

Solid build, you should do well with this deck. I've considered running 2x Xenagos, The Reveler and 1x Chandra, Pyromaster in my Get Yo Revel On but find it hard to part with the 3rd Xenagos. I see you only have played one FNM with the deck but I'd be interested to hear how that split works for you as you play more.
From my experience with the deck I prefer a split of 3x Mizzium Mortars and 1x Blood main deck. Blood being able to finish an opponent, kill a planeswalker, or remove a Desecration Demon post-combat after bloodrushing Polukranos, World Eater adds a lot of utility and power in one card while helping to reduce dead draws.

I'm such a huge fan of Flesh / Blood . I was playing 2 Flesh / Blood and Mizzium Mortars but I had some issues with it this past Friday. There were lots of times when I was behind with only some mana dorks out and I'd draw a Flesh / Blood when I needed a Mizzium Mortars . So I decided to go 4 Mizzium Mortars main deck and 2 Flesh / Blood side deck and hold off on it until I get to those matches when drawing Mizzium Mortars isn't so detrimental.
But I totally agree about the effect; I was able to hit for 18 on turn 4 with Ghor-Clan Rampager in back-to-back games because of it.
My next test with this deck will be this Saturday at BNG Game Day!

i run the same deck minus 1 domri, 1 courser, 1 mutavault, i play 2 mistcutter main deck for the first game against control, and 2 mizzium and 3 flesh and blood. Blood is so good with xenagod and rampager and works the same as mizzium if u have pulokranos or stormbreath out and finishes games. The only time i wish i had 1 more land is against mono black when they devour flesh my mana dorks. I havent had the chance to play but 1 mirror match and i won that 2 to 0 due to blood both times. I am on a heater right now going 8 and 0 in the last 2 fnms winning 2 foil mystics to go in my deck is awesome. Keep at it red green monsters is a top deck right now prolly gaining the most popularity because of how well its been doing after botg.

Have you thought about making the Chandra into Garruk, Caller of Beasts to put your draw on steroids?

Garruk, Caller of Beasts adds threat, but he's expensive to get out and doesn't do as much for me in the way of overall card advantage. All he provides is more creatures. Chandra, Pyromaster can get me whatever I need in that situation via the Domri Rade /Courser of Kruphix /Chandra, Pyromaster combo. Her +1 is excellent for finishing games when it's stalemated.

I agree with corythackston. Garruk, Caller of Beasts is crazy if used properly and can win you a game the turn it comes into play. However Burning-Tree Emissary and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx would need to be added. You can get removal out of him through Polukranos, World Eater .
February 26, 2014 9:28 p.m.
trentfaris242 creatures is exactly what you want in a deck like this, so Garruk is very good. You have and interesting combo of cards but i think it has to many cards whereas Garruk, Caller of Beasts + Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx has only two.

I understand the combo you're all referring to, and it's flimsy. Variations of this deck are winning tournaments for a reason. Once you get enough creatures in your deck you need to add more utility, not more creatures.

Between Nashville, Flint, and St. Louis there have been 6 GR Monster decks place top 8. Two of them have played Garruk, Caller of Beasts while 3 have main boarded Chandra, Pyromaster and if I remember correctly all of the rest of them at least side boarded her.
Garruk, Caller of Beasts is not a bad card, but for this deck he is. He cannot win me a game the turn he's played. He either allows me to play a green creature from my hand (irrelevant since all of my green creatures cost less to play than he does) or I can draw creatures. If what I need is a planes walker or a spell, he's a useless 6 drop to me.
February 27, 2014 9:03 a.m.
If you can get him on turn four or three (mana dorks + burning tree + Nykthos) you can churn out a scary number of big creatures the next turn, and that's the combo I have to play against all the time against my friend. He also uses Polukranos as a board wipe, and so grateful and polukranos are the two cards I fear in that deck (although Xenagos, God of Revels is getting there) That being said you may be right about that combo not being suited for this deck.
February 27, 2014 9:56 a.m.
Eventually you get so many creatures that he's impossible to kill.

But, again, you're talking about the most ideal situation. And if you were to hit that situation every time you'd be right. But as we know, that doesn't happen in Magic haha. You have to pick what's best for you in the most situations, and I just don't think Garruk, Caller of Beasts is the answer in this deck.
I keep emphasizing this deck because I don't want you to get the impression that I just hate Garruk, Caller of Beasts . He's awesome in MGD or even RG Devo. He just doesn't quite do it for this deck.

Per cookiex and seeing Ash do so well with him in the Grand Prix, I'm going to give Garruk, Caller of Beasts a shot. Side boarding 1 Xenagos, God of Revels for him to fit in.

What exactly is Xenagos doing for you in this build?
