For the sideboard, might I suggest Flashfreeze ? Valakut will be the deck to beat for the next three months, and preparation for it would be nice. Of course, I am not familiar with your meta, so this might not be the case in your area. Oh, and it's in M12.

I don't really have a sideboard philosophy in mind. I would like to fill it with high mana artifacts that I can search with Treasure Mage for.
I don't plan on playing again until after rotation, that is why I don't have a direction, but by all means people can use this as a template for their own decks if they so choose.

Ahmmm. good day to all. I want to ask soething noobish. Im trying to make an illusion deck too. deck:genjutsu Well, I like to build it more solidly around the illusions but I cant take the fact that I included Wurmcoil Engine as well.
- I cast Phantasmal Image Copying Lord of the Unreal and the LotU dies, Phantasmal Image's copied ability stays right? Does it mean it would be a better than Lord of the Unreal the time it copied the abilities because it is an illusion itself, thus cant be targeted by opponent?
- If I cast Phyrexian Metamorph and copy Phantasmal Image thet has formerly copied Lord of the Unreal ... does it mean it copies the Lord of the Unreal's Power/Toughness and abilities too?
July 14, 2011 5:56 a.m.
I see. I was just curious what problems you might have come up with playing the deck and if your sideboard reflected that. For VashTemplar: For #1, yes, that's one of the many reasons this deck is sick. For #2, yes again, i'm pretty sure. The image copies the metamorph completely and vise versa. So the metamorph would be an illusion and the image would be an artifact

and if yoz have problems with flying ,try out Levitation i guess it could fit in here

Yes, burn is a hard match for this deck unless you get the Phantasmal Image that's a hexproof copy of Lord of the Unreal . Then they just use the burn on you; sucks either way.
(QUESTION: Would Searing Blaze work on an illusion creature, the sacrifice ability would happen first because of the targeting then the spell would fizzle. No damage to the controller or the creature?)
However, most burn spells players pack in their deck are powerful enough to kill any of these illusion creatures. It's an even trade: spell for spell. The only burn spell that sucks for this deck is Arc Trail when you don't have hexproof illusions.
Moreover, the real threat of this deck is the cheaper Bad-A## artifacts creatures. If they waste all their kill on the illusions what are they going to do with the eventual Wurmcoil Engine that is going to hit the field or some other artifact baddie? If they take their time killing LotU and GA and you get consistent land drops you'll be able to hard-cast your artifacts.
Nice deck +1

@burn The damage to it's controller should still go through, i don't have the rule book imprinted on my brain. However i believe there is a rule that states all things legal about the card at time of resolve still happen, if the target is no longer legal (ie dead) that part of it fizzles. The wording (and) plays a big role in that. Correct me if i am wrong, but i think it would still hit.

-1 Wurmcoil and +1 Mindslaver mainboard. Mindslaver is perfect for this deck esp with the Buried Ruin lands that can bounce it back to your hand for more opponent screwing.
July 14, 2011 4:33 p.m.
@PhoenixRising: Searing Blaze states that it deals 1 damage to target player AND 1 damage to target creature (unless landfall) i.e. I aim a searing blaze at an Ember Hauler , my opponent sacs it and the spell totally fizzles out no damage because both targets must be hit thus the AND. Per my local judge's saying.

@burn Ahhh ok so the and works against it. Got ya .. i wasnt sure because the spell makes you pick the player first, not the creature. That makes sense. Thank you for clarifying!

I'm going to play something extremely similar methinks.

Let me know how your build goes. There was one Corwin did that uses more Myr Battlesphere then Wurmcoil

what to do against decks using Day of Judgment ,card:Black Sun's Zenith & Phyrexian Rebirth ? :/

I feel like this deck is begging for Consecrated Sphinx

I have been toying with the idea of a big card draw creature. I can't cheat it with Architect so I have to wait to turn 6 to cast it. Might look for some kinda artifact to cheat into play that can get moi cards.

Just had a boss playtest. With current setup:
By EOT 5 I had 3 Wurmcoils(one was an image), 2 treasure mages, a bear and an architect.
Nasty.

I know it only matters if you like the deck, but how has it done against the other archetypes? Anyone tested it? :)

What about swapping Gitaxian Probe or Mitotic Manipulation for Phyrexian Metamorph or Solemn Simulacrum ?
It seems to me that Solemn Simulacrum has more value than Mitotic Manipulation , and you can use Phyrexian Metamorph to copy swords, etc...
As far as Gitaxian Probe , I do see the value in looking at your opponent's hand, to help make the decision whether or not to copy a given creature, hold out for a sweeper, etc...but you could use Surgical Extraction instead and look at their hand (minus the card draw bonus, and minus 2 life)
I was also thinking that Mycosynth Wellspring may do just as good/better of a job as Mitotic Manipulation , if you added a card:Phyrexia's Core in place of a Buried Ruin . Or even Ichor Wellspring ?
Does Caged Sun have a place here?
Just thought experiments for the most part...I love the deck...just bought most of the cards for it today...just need 3 more Phantasmal Image ...
Now I don't know if I want to play this or A Tribe Called Quest at FNM this week :D

Umm...dude...I was just looking for my Myr Battlesphere to add to this deck and stumbled across an old friend that fits right in here...Molten-Tail Masticore
July 18, 2011 11:04 a.m.
I do like the idea of card:Phyrexia's Core to sac a wellspring, might have to look into that.
I was just testing the Manipulation to see if it was useful, and so far it has been okay so I guess I am looking for a new option.
I have looked at Caged Sun in the past and might revisit it. Would make hard casting my bigger creatures amazingly easy if GA ever bites the dust.

I've just recently made one myself! :D It's really fun. I love the bear. Architect of Illusions
Mine's much more focused on the illusions at the moment, with the 4 big artifacts as an alternate win condition.
Also, Into the Roil/Disperse is great. "That's a big scary creature without haste you got there. Mind if I make an illusion with hexproof and +x/+x out of it? And oh, put it back into your hand while I'm at it. " for 4 mana.

@karn
gargantuan is one mana slower than wormcoil, which makes a ton of difference in standard. architect also adds colorless mana so it isn't as useful for casting the gargantuan. it also cant be tutored by treasure mage. additionally, hes keeping it in the scars block, so into the roil is no good.
