i would probably take out the counters. this is more of an aggro deck so i think it doesnt need counters. you can look at my deck list as well. its pretty straight forward but it works :). its called lord of illusions - aggro deck.

good album. might go listen to that one actually.

oh, the deck? The only problem I see is that Lord of the Unreal is small and doesn't protect himself, so I can just go boom, you're dead, now everything else dies at the drop of a hat, which makes you really vulnerable to aggro, red and black in particular. Other than that, it seems funny and capable of explosive kills. I've never been fond of the drawback on these guys but this seems like the way to get around it.

You can always use Phantasmal Image to clone your Lord if you need to. That said if these guys were to get targeted by a black spell, it would most likely die anyways. If it were to get hit by a red spell, it would probably die anyways. So sacing at the target of a spell isn't a big of a deal as a lot of people think.

I don't see it as a drawback really. They're just strong creatures.

Lawl's I Love this thing and can see it as being pretty competitive actually.

Xenograft would melt the paint off the walls in this deck since the lord, wurmcoil, and architect would also have hexproof. They better have a field wipe and hope you are not holding a counter spell. XD

+1 for sure.

As far as my Vixen deck goes, It didn't do as well as I hoped but I top 8ed so meh... I mostly just had to play against a very good player first round of top 8 and the games were tight so it wasn't like the deck bombed.

@sporkifehe actually has a possible 11 copies of lord of the unreal in there..... you do need to have a lord to copy, but his vulnerability really isnt that much of an issue.

@OPmaybe 2 or 3 Aven Fleetwing for your image to copy... essentially another version of the card for half the mana.

You had better hope people stop playing Tumble Magnet s. That is three free kills against your deck!!! I like the deck but I agree the weakness lies in the fact that Lord of the Unreal needs his own protection, and any targeted spell will kill your army, even if it is a pump (infect deck) or a weak bolt. I highly recommend Spellskite to solve this issue.

I highly recommend Spellskite , as shifty4690 suggested.

I'd consider Steel Hellkite as a secondary win condition. Maybe Mindslaver as a fun target for Grand Architect ?

June 30, 2011 9:52 p.m.

Mpz5 says... #11

I don't think spellskite will protect it but I could be wrong. When the illusion is targeted it's ability goes on the stack, even if the target is redirected it should have still been triggered in the first place by being the original target.

Am I wrong in my logic?

Spellskite won't save the illusions. As soon as they're targeted the sacrifice effect triggers.

Are you aware that Grand Architect would not help you with the casting of any of the Illusions? Even if you may have it "Enter the battlefield as..." it still isn't an artifact spell?

Here is my Grand Architect: Hammer Time

And my five cents: Perhaps, +1 Negate , -1 Mana Leak if you don't want to change the total amount of cancels. (Since you're more vulnerable to mass clean-up, rather then big creatures). Don't put the skite in here! In most cases you'd have 2 of Lords on the table 1 of which will likely be an untargetable illusion.

Xenograft - to side, it's just a very tricky card for this deck and could help in common case, but I suppose that in near future there will be enough Call to the Grave -based decks.

Steel Hellkite - Even though I'm a great fan of it, I don't see a real reason to put it here, in comparison to the Wurmcoil Engine (if an illusion copied it and died afterwards then it doesn't provide us with anything comparing to 2 3/3 lifelink/DT wurms), but if you'll see a lack of big guys during playtests perhaps, you should insert a couple of it.

Steel like it :)

How about replacing Divination with Treasure Mage ? It is more synergistic with Wurmcoil Engine and Grand Architect . Think about it, on 4th turn and Grand Architect and another blue crit on play, you can cast Treasure Mage , search Wurmcoil Engine and cast it!

I go to soccer and get a tsunami of comments xD I love it.

@ancientales I originally had the dragons in the deck but took them out. Can't really give you a reason I just didn't like them in it. I will toy with the combinations but the creature base I have now I like.

@Mpz5 Only problem is that I don't wanna draw it when I could use card draw or something else instead. It's a badass card and I will consider it later on in playtesting.

@shifty4690 If I have a Lord on the field the magnet can't target anything that can sac. Lord would be the only one and he would just simply tap.

@Corwin i'll swap the two counterspells. I don't know what to put in the sideboard becuase I sure as hell don't know what the meta will be like, so i'll keep the xenos in the side. I'll put Steel Hellkite in the maybe as well.

@pacundo Treasure Mage kinda breaks my theame, not sure I like that =(

July 1, 2011 3:47 a.m.

but wouldnt xenocraft get rid of all of the illusions there also being targeted???

desiredmagicname, where have you seen in the rules of xenograft smth. like : "target creatures you control are the chosen type..."? It doesn't target anything.

put the dragon in!!!! :D

I playtested it a bit and it played well so I will keep them in for a bit.

Nobilior says... #22

Why don't you replace Divination with card:Tezzeret's Gambit? You could use the proliferate to put more counters on your Tumble Magnet s. The Wurmcoil Engine 's lifelink should recover for life lost through casting.

I threw 2 in.

yay for the dragon :D and tezzi's gambit :D!!!

I do agree with treasure mage actually...

Tutor up wurmcoil, throw it down next turn with architect by tapping the mage and 2 other creatures.

Basically, make it an architect deck with an illusion theme.

I still like the graft main but You would have to playtest it. It just seems like it would be an auto-win a lot of the time against a lot of decks.
