@FROZR2 You realize this deck was added 30 June, 2011, right? That's before all of Magic 2012 was even spoiled. That's TWO DAYS after Lord of the Unreal even became a thing (article previewing him here, dated 28 June, 2011: http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/li/149 ).

There's a reason why tappedout includes deck upload dates. I wouldn't make any claims of primacy, here. I think Leafs_suck has you beat.

It's actually funny you bring up that article.

Go to the comments and you'll see the 3rd comment by Deco_y, that's me xD it's the name I use for Gatherer and the mothership. It's also my PSN name for PS3 so if anything I suggested that archetype on the official site first.

This deck was made by me before I had even heard of Tappedout.com.

I haven't made any claims that anyone has copied anyone else. I made the deck on my own, and it is in no way the exact same. You also forget that the deck has been drastically changed, if not right flipped upside down, since then. No you're right, Temporal Mastery was huge in 2011.

Issues Include...Issue One- Replace creature bouncing with bigger artifacts or counters.Issue Two- Lack of an Akroma's MemorialIssue Three- Replace Phantasmal Bear with Jace's PhantasmIssue Four- Where are the Cathedral of Wars? Don't use Ink moths like you were thinking of doing.Issue Five- Use Four Phyrexian Metamorphs. Trust me there is room.Issue Six- Mindslave and Temporal Mastery do not fix into the actual win condition for this deck. You could replace them easily though they do fit into the deck itself you could do better.

Prost Points!Point One- Contagion engine was a great addition.Point Two- The combination of Illusions with artifacts was outstanding.

Fantastic idea!!! I hadn't previously thought of this build.

Ignore the last comment. Issue one: replace creature bouncing with bigger artifacts or counters. Issue two: lack of Ackroma's Memorial. Issue three replace Phantasmal Bear with Jace's Phantasm. Issue four: lack of Cathedral of Wars do not use ink moth if that is what you're thinking. Issue five: Use four Phyrexian Metamorphs trust me mate there is room. Issue six mindslave and temporal mastery don't really run with the deck.

I hate to be "this guy," but he does make a good point with the Cathedral of Wars. Mono coloured deck, not too much to lose. I'm gonna run some tests and come back.

However, temporal mastery and mindslaver are filthy, especially since there are one of each, and mindslaver can be fetched/brought back via Buried Ruins.

I too stumbled upon this deck shortly after I started playing Magic, which was roughly a week after M12 came out. I fell in love with illusions, and when I discovered Grand Architect, I knew I had to work him in there too. I always enjoyed playing a Platinum Emperion for free just to see my friends squirm. I like your list, and it makes me wish I had kept that deck around. I miss it sorely. After the rotation, I might rebuild it since the Images and Wurmcoils should be much cheaper by then.Anyway, you get a +1 from me for nostalgia's sake. :P

I did almost this exact same thing right before innistrad came out. I love this version and i'm glad someone else can appreciate illusions as a creature type not a downfall.

Maybe consider akroma's memorial, be quite easy to get out with Grand architect. Give your wurmcoil vigi and flying? I'm up for that. and i was also thinking mill could be incorporated with the addition of jace's over tamiyo and sands of deliyrum. Just thoughts

@ Lonethief: If you used Jace over Tamiyo, you would probably want to replace the bears with phantasms, unless you kept both for more 1-drops.

@ Lord Voldomort: Yeah, I usually run at least two and end up with copies.

As I said before, I'm keeping this version as is because this is the deck I play. I'm creating a modern version separate from this which I'll unveil eventually. That one will have card:Akroma's Memorial in it.

Awesome and original. This deck has individuality, originality, speed, power, and is just plain good. +1 from me.

Add card:Akroma's Memorial over Temporal Mastery.

July 31, 2012 9:25 p.m.

Take out Mindslaver and a Tamiyo, the Moon Sage in for 2 Wurmcoil Engine s but keep them in side board because Mindslaver isn't too helpful in an aggro deck.

I would think Ghostly Flicker could be useful here, just because you can flicker your Treasure Mage if you only get one down and you just can't find another, and you can also flicker your Contagion Engine just to make people sad.

Just a thought :)

Also thank you, this deck inspired me to make an illusion deck Sucks for you! if you could take a look at it, it would be greatly appreciated since you obviously know how to fuck shit up haha

I just wanted to post what I came up with using your deck as the base deck:grande-illusions. Basically it started out as an.... illusion of your deck :) I didn't have some of the more costly cards so I had to modify it to make do with what I had.

It still needs some modifying.

Maybe a stupid comment, but won't Akroma's Memorial destroy you're own illusions?

August 7, 2012 7:22 a.m.

x106 says... #22

No they don't get destroyed. That would be like saying the +1 from the lord would kill the illusions.

That ability from either card "just is" rather than target.

Would you ever want to copy Grand Architect with Phantasmal Image it will make your creatures bigger?

August 7, 2012 6:15 p.m.

x106 says... #24

azbycx I have done it early on when I have no lords but honestly if you have a lord you just copy those over and over.
