Oh yeah, I would too. Wurmcoil Engine or Steel Hellkite are definitely worth trading in an illusion or two for!

ScottieC37, man, and where did you find "tap TARGET untapped blue creature" in the description of the ability?

I think I agree with Corwin... basically GA is giving all his blue creatures the ability "tap to add 2 colorless mana".
This thing is idiotically fast.... +1 from me, mate.

@Corwin: Good catch, point conceded. I read the ability as needing to Target when Targeting has to be specifically called out. While I would have no problem sac'ing an Illusion to ramp into a big artifact, I much prefer when you don't have to Sac them at all :)

Stoic Rebuttal over Cancel
That said, Mana Leak over Cancel , as well as anything else.

Redirect over any of those but if i had to pick, definitely Stoic Rebuttal
also Mana Leak over Cancel. Paying one less mana is huge in Standard!!

People, it's an aggro deck. I'm pretty sure that he stated that the negates were specifically for board wipes.
July 6, 2011 4:56 p.m.
I have a question. I don't know if it's me and something im missing. But im pretty sure that unless Grand Architect is just summoned on turn 3, it can't tap unless it has haste, or you or your opponent plays something like Sleep . Can somebody please post on my profile and clear this up for me. And otherwise, this deck rocks +1.

Squirrelking98, i believe it is different for this type of ability. As it does not technically have a cost. I'm not sure where in the rule book it is. I am pretty sure though. +1 Love it.

Totally legal to tap GA for mana the turn he comes in. Its not a "tap" ga ability, its a global kind of thing.

Is there any more low cost cards still in play after the cycle that help with card draw? Gitaxian probe might actually work well in here
July 6, 2011 6:38 p.m.
@ squirrelking98: summoning sickness prevents creatures from attacking or using abilities with the 'tap' symbol in their costs. Grand Architect doesn't use the tap symbol, so he can be tapped to himself with summoning sickness.
July 6, 2011 9:07 p.m.
There is nothing lower then 3 cost I would consider for the deck card draw wise.
July 6, 2011 9:28 p.m.
Redirect would not work. An illusion would have to be targeted as part of casting the spell. Once that happens the illusion gets sac'd, regardless of which creature eventually gets targeted. That's why Spellskite isn't in the deck.
I am not worried about creatures, I am worried about non-creature spells. That is why Negate is in the deck and not something else.

so, question...why Ponder over Preordain ? Prrdn is definitely better, and it's not like either is hard to find/replace at rotation.
July 6, 2011 9:39 p.m.
@squirelking
Thanks for mentioning sleep. I'm making a pre-rotation version and that's going in.
July 6, 2011 9:57 p.m.
Because this deck is exclusively post rotation. I am making a pre rotation version.

no comments on maybe using the blue shrine for card draw?
and also shimmer myr would be interesting given you could leave up blockers or counter mana and flash in a wurmcoil at EoT
July 6, 2011 11:02 p.m.
The blue shrine is mediocre in my personal opinion. I can draw a card, but it would only be useful on like turn 5, in which case I would rather draw something else.

I'd trade my bear for wurmcoil :)
