This deck is nuts, i love it! You really made it work without the Scalding Tarn too. Not once during playtesting of this deck have a felt like i needed a tarn.

I personally prefer Faithless Looting to Desperate Ravings in my storm deck. One mana can mean a lot, plus the choice of which card I want to discard is vital to me, as I am notoriously bad at discarding randomly.

Thank god for Spell Snare . Lol _

Spell Snare only counters 1 copy of Grapeshot if that's what you're getting at. So instead of grapeshot for 20, you'll probably get it for 19. if you wanted to counter the whole combo chain, you either need Leyline of Sanctity , or Counterflux

I'd run Shatterstorm over Vandalblast . It's doubtful your opponent is going to have more than 5 artifacts anyway and this way if you only want to destroy 2, 3, or 4 artifacts you can do it for cheaper. Granted the mono-red could be annoying but with your mana base and the 4 Manamorphose I don't really see that being a huge problem. Also, Shattering Spree isn't nearly as versatile as the other two it does do mass artifact destruction for cheaper.

I also feel like there are better choices for cantrips than Thought Scour . You aren't trying to mill anyone and there are better effects that you could use. Peek could be useful. Quicken ing into a grape-shot on their turn just when they thought they were safe would be pretty devastating. Finally while it's highly unlikely that Visions of Beyond 's secondary effect would come into play the chance that it could is a pretty nice bonus I'd say.

Granted I don't know much about modern so I could be totally wrong about all of this. Either way this deck looks terrifying to play against and very fun to play. +1

hackerheck, I really like Shattering Spree , and mono red isn't annoying at all, because of all the rituals. Milling yourself with Thought Scour is valid, because it gets cards into your graveyard for Pyromancer Ascension . However, Visions of Beyond may come into play at some point, so i'll think about that. Thanks for the advice.

More like turn 5 copied grapeshot for 48 damage!

You need Remand , it lets you go off with a storm count of 9 by bouncing Grapeshot back to your hand after the storm copies get put onto the stack. It also slows down your opponent significantly if you are waiting for your Pyromancer's Ascension to power up.

@BFG if a storm deck needs to go to turn 5 to win, then it will lose. There's just too much letting the opponent set up in that time.

Also i don't think i've ever seen Remand in a storm list before. UR delver? sure 4x. Not seen one in storm though.

Grim is probably right, you'll win more games just running what everyone else is running. On that note, it looks like the general concencus for tournament UR Storm decks is -1 Grapeshot and +1 Desperate Ravings , so have fun with that.

By the way, please disregard what I said earlier about Remand . The only situation where you would need it is if Past in Flames didn't show up, but that is very unlikely considering all the card draw already happening. As for sideboard suggestions, Echoing Truth is an extremely popular choice for stopping Splinter Twin decks, and Trickbind is my personal favorite for stopping other storm decks and cascade combo decks. Shatterstorm usually does the trick against affinity, and Blood Moon just messes with almost everything except storm. Yes, you probably won't see Trickbind in most UR storm sideboards; but if Living End or Restore Balance is popular in your meta, then Trickbind is great for stopping a multitude of threats.
