i f the idea of your deck is to play Arbor Elf on turn one then most likely you will usually have 3 mana available for turn 3, i would recommend 3mana ramp spells instead of 2mana ramp in order ot used up what you have at the moment like Kodama's Reach in replace of Search for Tomorrow or Rampant Growth will be more useful IMO

infinitemana: Wow I like the Dungrove Elder idea. XD I'll be sure to place it in somewhere. As for your deck, I'll give it a more thorough evaluation tomorrow (it's late here atm).

Ruric: Mmm, I was definitely thinking about the really high peak at 2CMC for my mana curve; I might trade the Rampant Growth for a Kodama's Reach or Cultivate (same thing, but Cultivate looks prettier imo XD). As for Search for Tomorrow , you reckon it's not so great to keep it just for the lucky turn 1 or turn 2 suspend? I agree it will get outclassed by other 3CMC spells later, but at the same time replacing it may weaken my turn 1 if I don't necessarily pick up an Arbor Elf , unless you have some other suggestions for cards which do roughly the same thing? Obviously there is Llanowar Elves but I'd like to see if there are any other similar cards at a cheaper price (no Birds of Paradise please XD).

Elvish Pioneer would do something simillar or Avacyn's Pilgrim still would work out for the purpose

Noble Hierarch

Abundant Growth

Utopia Sprawl

Ruric: Whoops just checked online, Noble Hierarch is the expensive one at around $28; Birds of Paradise far cheaper at $4. Better catch dem birds then. XD That'll replace my Search for Tomorrow then. Thanks for the help! 8D

It looks like you're trying to make a ramp deck.

I'd focus on running a bunch of land ramp over mana elves such as

Explore
Rampant Growth
Cultivate
Khalni Heart Expedition
Oracle of Mul Daya

I'd cut the following altogetherLure
Gatecreeper Vine (if you really need a defender, use Wall of Roots instead)

I'd cut down the number of Arbor Elf Birds of Paradise (in favor of the land ramp)

I'd wouldn't run as many copies of the large creatures as you are running, instead I'd rely more on Green Sun's Zenith , or Natural Order if you can get some.

You can also Green Sun's Zenith for Progenitus , so you might put one of those in your deck.

My green ramp/aggro deck is my personal favorite, so I have a few tips.

Sakura-Tribe Elder over Sylvan Ranger

Utopia Sprawl or Wild Growth or even Overgrowth does wonderful things with Arbor Elf

I don't understand Birds of Paradise , Misty Rainforest or Verdant Catacombs in a mono deck, but i could be missing something

Drumhunter is great card draw and a little ramp that goes well with large creatures

Vorapede is one of the best mono-green aggro guys around

Sam_I_am: My main concern is that running land ramp gives me nothing on the board which might be an issue against decks with faster set-ups. For example I have a friend who can potentially pull off a lucky turn 3 Myr Battlesphere, averaging turn 5. I'd like some way of being able to fend off early attacks if I must. Also cards like Explore and Oracle of Mul Daya seem to be contingent on land I actually draw or can draw. If I get a really crappy shuffle they won't do much for me. XD Have you playtested a deck with the combination of land-ramp you've used? I'd like to see so I get a personal feel for it. Ruric above mentioned a good point that I was concerned about too, that I would very likely have 3 mana by turn 3 and should therefore get a bit more in the 3CMC department. I just ran myself one quick playtest (though I'll gladly accept the fact it was only one) and had 6 mana ready to roll before the untap step of turn 4. Lure is actually for my Engulfing Slagwurm and imo is a pretty lul way of wiping the enemy's board clean in one go and distract any creatures on the field while the rest of the army has a field day. It's not there as a win-con alone, it's there to reinforce it, or in a way speed it up. And also for the large creatures like Progenitus , I get the impression you're going to suggest some big ones which are for example colourless or multicoloured. A problem is: what happens when you get the multicolours in your starting hand or draws? How can you get it out of your hand quickly, back into the library to be tutored? So yeah, if you can answer those, I'm more than happy to add them in. XD

gerfinkle: I will get to you after dinner, haven't read your whole comment...

gerfinkle: I'll definitely add the Sakura-Tribe Elder ; I'm assuming you can sacrifice a creature on the same turn it is summoned? And I'll take the enchant land suggestions, just not sure how to choose between Utopia Sprawl and Overgrowth lmao.Birds of Paradise actually replaced a Search for Tomorrow ; I'm using it as another way of having at least 2 mana ready by the untap step of turn 2. I'm willing to replace it with something that might work/synergise better, but yeah.As for the Zendikar fetch lands, I was hoping for some sexy Khalni Heart Expedition interaction, and I'm not using it for the (redundant) fact that I can choose to pull an Island or Swamp out of nowhere. If, when my deck is finalised, price is still overwhelmingly high, I'm replacing them with normal Forests.Mmm, Vorapede and Drumhunter . Very nice.

This is something that someone has told me before, and I think I'm really seeing it now, but I feel like I try too hard to make a deck work and cover my ass no matter what I play against (such as including the Lure for my quick creature wipe with Engulfing Slagwurm . Do you think this is a significant issue for me, and if so, are there other superfluous cards I can get rid of/have less of? Sam_I_am, yes I was still thinking about your Lure question over dinner, and I think I have to agree with you; might get it in a sideboard for lulz. (My sideboard is all for retarded cards that I'll put in when I want some bs combo to blow off, practical or otherwise)

i think you may want to look for double value ramp like Borderland Ranger or the Sakura-Tribe Elder which will allow you to do ramp and have blockers to survive meantime

One bonus to lad ramp as opposed to mana dorks is that it boosts your Dungrove Elder s

Very similar to mine... check it out if you haven't *Superbia. Also, adjust your creatures, you have too many heavy critters like Vorapede or Primordial Hydra . And Predator Ooze is not as effective as you think, reevaluate him. Cheers

Your deck makes me wonder why I didn't discover Primalcrux earlier LOL. Mmm, I will agree with your point on Predator Ooze for sure; I often find it just sitting there going "lol here I am, tickling you occasionally". Just wondering though, what's the reason that you picked Garruk Wildspeaker over Garruk, Primal Hunter ? And also, in the case of your deck, I agree with one of your commenters; I really do think Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx would make heads roll in your deck, haha, so a suggestion for you.

October 5, 2013 12:51 a.m.

Busse says... #15

Simple: Garruk Wildspeaker was in my collection since Lorwyn... and it's first ability can untap the Forest enchanted with Utopia Sprawl , just like Arbor Elf and generate more mana with fewer lands... and the third ability acts as an Overrun one turn after you drop the Garruk. And yeah, if I can grab one Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx , I will put it in the deck ;) Also... if you wanna take a look to my other 4 decks, please be my guest!
