Omnath, locust of mana gets so aggressive, so quickly. He feeds on mana that you can use later, a very unique ability in the Commander world. He has a built in voltron-like ability, he grows as your mana pool grows. You basically skip your first main phase, go right to combat phase, declare your attackers, wait for response, then tap your mana and make Omnath huge. It is like a bear trap that your opponents can see coming, but can’t avoid it.

80-85% of the spells in this deck, are cast in the second main phase. Sooooo, pretty simple strategy...

1) Pump mana into Omnath

2) Give Omnath trample

3) Beat down opponents with huge chunks of Commander damage

Speed is everything. And, with Omnath’s built in voltron ability, you can just pin your ears back and sprint towards 21 Commander damage!

I am consistently finding ways to get more mana and trample, with higher abundancy and quicker. Right now, turn 4 or 5 kills, happen at a pretty solid rate. But, I’m always looking for ways to get that turn 3 kill.

Now for some synergies.....

Flash:

Giving your creatures the Flash mechanic, ends up being super oppressive to your opponents. When Omnath, locust of mana dies or gets exiled, you don’t have to lose all the precious mana that you have been storing away. Flashing your Commander back in, saves the mana from disappearing, and crushes the will of your opponent. Yeva, Nature's Herald, Winding Canyons and Vedalken Orrery are some of the most valuable cards to the deck. Also, when you combine either of them with Miren, the Moaning Well, you end up with tons of life gain (same concept; sac Omnath, then re-cast him before you change phases). Boom.

Protection Combo:

Dosan the Falling Leaf + Green Sun's Zenith

Start by casting Green Sun's Zenith for 4 (x = 3), then wait for a response before you declare what you are searching for. Once it has resolved, search for Dosan the Falling Leaf, and put him into play. Your opponents can’t respond with any spells, once Green Sun's Zenith resolves. Very sneaky, and yet, the proper order of how it is actually supposed to work.

Untapping your lands:

Basically doubles your mana, thus makes Omnath huge, very powerful. Bear Umbra and Deserted Temple fit ver well with cards like Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and Utopia Sprawl (and Arbor Elf helps with that last enchantment, also), pre-combat. Seedborn Muse is so damn powerful in this deck, but it’s a little slow, oddly enough. It does insure that you’ll have enough Commander damage to kill some one, but on your next turn.

Evasion:

The number one evasion strategy, for this deck, is Trample. Omnath gets so big, so quickly, that going over the top of your opponents creatures is the easiest and most abundant way to get Commander damage through. There is a good mix of creatures, enchantments, sorceries, instants, and artifacts that provide Trample. There are currently, 10+ ways to give Omnath, locust of mana Trample. Start with 4 creatures to snag with a tutor; Elvish Herder, Nylea, God of the Hunt, Pathbreaker Ibex, Rhonas the Indomitable, plus one for your graveyard (Brawn). Then you’ve also got Primal Rage, Thunderfoot Baloth, Primal Frenzy, Rancor, and Loxodon Warhammer, for a permanent form of trample. At instant speed, there is Berserk. Unblockable is the second most popular form of evasion, Whispersilk Cloak and Trailblazer's Boots are always handy, but you can tutor for Rogue's Passage, making it the most used form of Unblockable, in the deck. Inquisitor's Flail can cause some serious issues for your opponents. And, throw in Canopy Cover, because Flying with out flying, and Hexproof without hexproof, is kinda unexpected.

Hexproof / Shroud:

Sylvan Safekeeper, Asceticism, Swiftfoot Boots, Lightning Greaves, and Whispersilk Cloak. Safety is neato.

Suggestions are always welcome. Thanks for checking out the deck.
